FOUR & MORE: Best Inland Area LBs
1. Scott Starr, Norco — What more needs to be said than he’s 6-foot-4, 235 pounds and committed to USC? You want more? He has a freakish wing-span, somewhere near 6-foot-8. More? He had 11 solo tackles in 2010’s season opener against Los Angeles Crenshaw. What’s next? HUGE GAMES: Sept. 9 vs. L.A. Crenshaw; Oct. 21 at Corona Centennial.
2. Nolan Peralta, Elsinore — The true coach’s son, this 6-foot-2, 225-pound bruiser helped lead his father, Tony Peralta, and the Tigers to the 2010 Eastern Division title. The younger Peralta had a busy offseason, testing very well at the Nike SPARQ combine while also getting looks from recruiters as a potential end on offense. HUGE GAMES: Nov. 4 vs. Menifee Heritage; Nov. 10 at Menifee Paloma Valley.
3. Su’a Craven, Vista Murrieta — Only a junior, this 6-foot-1, 205-pound dynamo can make any play on the field, and might have to if the Broncos are to make a third consecutive Inland Division title game. With a motor that doesn’t stop, Coach Coley Candaele will drive Craven to be the team’s leading rusher and tackler (and maybe even its interception leader) and because of it he”ll be the most sought-after underclassmen in Inland Area history. HUGE GAMES: Sept. 30 at Encino Crespi; Oct. 14 at Temecula Chaparral.
4. Reshawn Hooker, Fontana Miller — A transfer from San Bernardino Arroyo Valley, this 6-foot-2, 205-pound tackle machine opted to play his senior season for his uncle, Marcus Soward, the Rebels’ new coach. He should make the step up from San Andreas League play to Citrus Belt League play about as smoothly as he’ll make his college choice. Scout.com says that of Hookers’ 20-plus scholarship offers, he’s narrowed his faves to Boise State and UCLA. HUGE GAMES: Sept. 16 at San Bernardino Arroyo Valley; Oct. 14 at Redlands East Valley.
AND MORE: Rajahn King, Moreno Valley Canyon Springs — This 6-foot-1, 230-pound senior is coming into his own on defense after time on the offensive line. He’ll surely benefit from playing for a revitalized coaching staff, led by new coach Pete Garza. HUGE GAMES: Sept. 2 vs. Perris Citrus Hill; Nov. 4 at Moreno Valley Rancho Verde.
