FOUR & MORE: Best Inland Area NFLers

1. Nick Barnett, Buffalo Bills — The Fontana Miller HS alum just won a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers but now finds himself plying his trade in the NFL equivalent of Siberia. Going from one frozen tundra to another hasn’t halted his non-stop tweeting, like this gem: “Would it be wrong is I wore a Oj Simpson jersey” from the other day.

2. Toby Gerhart, Minnesota Vikings — At the time he graduated from Norco HS, Gerhart was California’s all-time leader in rushing yards. By the time he graduated from Stanford he was a Heisman Trophy candidate. Now? He gets 5 or 6 carries a game as Adrian Peterson’s back up.

3. Eric Weddle, San Diego Chargers — Cemented in his place as the last man in the Bolts’ defense, this Rancho Cucamonga Alta Loma HS alum is ready to start accumulating Pro Bowl appearances. Oh, and his new $40-million ($19 guaranteed), 5-year contract makes him the best-paid safety in the league.

4. Tyron Smith, Dallas Cowboys — The ninth overall pick in the 2011 draft, this Moreno Valley Rancho Verde HS alum is far too big (6-foot-5, 307 pounds) not to be on this list. Sadly, there was nothing the rookie can do about a mistake-prone QB seemingly intent on short-arming the Cowboys to zero playoff victories.

AND MORE: Lonyae Miller, Dallas Cowboys — Perhaps the last pro link to legendary coach Dick Bruich, this Fontana Kaiser HS alum has intermittently held down a roster spot in Big D as a third or fourth running back. Judging by the way Dallas played in the 4th quarter in Week 1, they need Miller (and all the help they can get).
