Inland Area Prep Football Top 10

1. Vista Murrieta (13-0) — The Broncos did it. They earned their spot at the big boy table by taking out Norco in the Inland semifinals. Only a victory over Norco didn’t complete their season. Now they face their Southwestern League rival in the CIF-SS Inland Division title game. Next Game: Friday vs. Temecula Chaparral.

2. Temecula Chaparral (10-3) — The Pumas stayed just under the radar most of the entire season — especially after losing to Vista Murrieta in Week 7. This is a rematch two months in the making. Next Game: Friday at Vista Murrieta.

3. Upland (11-2) — The Highlanders were barely the third best team in the Baseline League and now their playing for the CIF-SS Central Division championship against a Rancho Cucamonga school. But not the one anyone expected. Next Game: Friday vs. Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos at Citrus College, Glendora (Ca.).

4. Phelan Serrano (11-2) — The Diamondbacks clearly have a recipe for success, especially on defense. They held down offensive-minded Riverside Norte Vista in the CIF-SS Eastern Division semifinals — not an easy task — now they travel from the High Desert to the low desert for a date in the finals. Next Game: Saturday at Palm Springs.

5. Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos (9-4) — I cannot believe this is the same team that Riverside North blasted way back in Week 2. The Grizzlies are riding a seven-game winning streak into the Central Division title game. Next Game: Friday vs. Upland at Citrus College, Glendora (Ca.).

6. Palm Springs (10-2) — The Indians skinned some Kats in the semifinals, defeating Fontana Kaiser, 41-0. Can coach Steve Fabian keep his team on the warpath heading into the CIF-SS Eastern Division title game? Next Game: Saturday vs. Phelan Serrano.

7. Norco (11-2) — Coach Todd Gerhart probably spent too much time watching his son, Toby, play for the Heisman Trophy and lost focus. Pretty typical. The Cougars lost, 34-33, to Vista Murrieta in the semifinals. Next Game: SEASON OVER.

8. Corona Centennial (10-3) — The Huskies have all the speed in the world but lacked size and discipline. Coach Matt Logan seems uninterested in discipline so maybe he’ll work on making his players taller and bigger. Next Game: SEASON OVER.

9. Redlands East Valley (11-1) — The Wildcats ran into the Chaparral buzz saw in the second round but still had a fantastic, undefeated regular season which they capped with a beat down of Riverside La Sierra in the first round. Next Game: SEASON OVER.

10. Moreno Valley Rancho Verde (11-1) — The Mustangs’ undefeated regular season earns them the nod over several others like Rancho Cucamonga, Colton, Riverside Arlington or Eastvale Roosevelt. Next Game: SEASON OVER.
