Inland Area Prep Basketball Top 10
1. Rancho Cucamonga Etiwanda (25-2) — The Eagles have won two consecutive since losing their first home game of the season — to No. 6 Upland — last week. USC-bound senior G/F Byron Wesley (6-foot-5, 215 pounds) led coach David Kleckner’s team with 18.8 points per game.
LAST RANKED: (No. 1). LAST WEEK: d. Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos, 85-51, on 2/8; d. Rancho Cucamonga Alta Loma, 87-28, on 2/10.
THIS WEEK: First Round of CIF-Southern Section Division 1-AA playoffs.
2. Corona Centennial (23-3) — The Huskies won their last 15 consecutive games — including every Big VIII League game — and are sure to enter the CIF-Southern Section playoffs with a very high seed. New Mexico-bound senior G/F Dominique Dunning (6-4, 195) averaged a team-leading 20.3 points and 8.5 rebounds this season.

3. Murrieta Valley (23-3) – The Nighthawks went unbeaten in the Southwestern League en route to their fourth consecutive title. How do they do it? Coach Steve Tarabilda’s team is far and away the most discipled in the Inland Area.

THIS WEEK: First Round of CIF-SS Division 1-AA playoffs.
4. Rialto Eisenhower (19-7) – The Eagles, despite a rather week intra-conference schedule, may be the most battle-tested of any team in this week’s Inland Area Prep Basketball Top 10. Coach Steve Johnson’s team faced a brutal non-league schedule that included victories over powerhouses like San Diego Parker and Pacific Palisades.

THIS WEEK: First Round of CIF-SS Division 1-AA playoffs.
5. Fontana Summit (21-6) – The SkyHawks won the Sunkist League going away, and was one of only two teams in the Inland Area Top 10 to have scored more than 2,000 points this season. Can the senior combination of F Dorian Cason (6-9, 220) and PG Montigo Alford (5-9, 170) produce another long playoff run for coach Steve Hickey?

THIS WEEK: First Round of CIF-SS Division 2-AA playoffs.
6. Upland (18-6) – The Highlanders won five of their last six games — including a season-defining victory at No. 1 Etiwanda — and coach John McNally’s team will enter the playoffs riding a four-game winning streak.
LAST RANKED: (No. 6). LAST WEEK: d. San Juan Capistrano JSerra Catholic, 58-50, on 2/5; d. Rancho Cucamonga, 59-56, 2/8; d. Glendora, 49-40, on 2/10on .
THIS WEEK: First Round of CIF-SS Division 1-AA playoffs.
7. Moreno Valley Rancho Verde (20-6) – The Mustangs lost three of their last five games, and merely tied for a share of the Inland Valley League title. Limping into the playoffs is a scary proposition for coach Travis Showalter’s team, which relies heavily on its perimeter game.
LAST RANKED: (No. 7). LAST WEEK: lost to Riverside La Sierra, 63-56, on 2/7; d. Moreno Valley, 56-37, on 2/9.
THIS WEEK: First Round of CIF-SS Division 1-AA playoffs.
8. Victorville Victor Valley (22-4) – The Jackrabbits strumbled some but have won three consecutive games heading into the playoffs. Senior PG Zeke Deblase (5-11, 185) scored a team-high 20.1 points per game this season.
LAST RANKED: (No. 8). LAST WEEK: d. Apple Valley Granite Hills, 53-39, on 2/9; d. Ridgecrest Burrough, 76-55, on 2/11.
THIS WEEK: First Round of CIF-SS Division 2-A playoffs.
9. Redlands East Valley (22-5) – The Wildcats were the other team in the Inland Area Top 10 to score more than 2,000 points (2,085), and have won eight of their last nine. Senior C Paulin Mpawe (6-11, 190) finished the regular season averaging 14-6 points and 11.3 rebounds per game.
LAST RANKED: (No. 9). LAST WEEK: d. Yucaipa, 82-75, on 2/8; d. Fontana Miller, 78-62, on 2/10.
THIS WEEK: First Round of CIF-SS Division 1-A playoffs.
10. Elsinore (23-4) — The Tigers were unbeaten in the Sunbelt League, and have won 18 of their last 19 games. Coach Pete Rettinger’s team’s last loss came to City Section top-dog Los Angeles Price on 1/17.
LAST RANKED: (Not Ranked). LAST WEEK: d. Menifee Heritage, 73-38, on 2/8; d. Menifee Paloma Valley, 80-60, on 2/10.
THIS WEEK: First Round of CIF-SS Division 2-A playoffs.
