San Bernardino junior Xavier Alvarez has been selected InlandFieldhouse.com’s Player of the Week after turning in a practically perfect Week 0 performance as the Cardinals blasted Desert Mirage, 76-0, in a nonleague game on Friday, Aug. 19, 2022.
Alvarez was 10 of 10 passing for 183 yards and three touchdowns, had 13 carries for 148 yards and five TDs and added two two-point conversions as the Cardinals (1-0 overall) opened up the season with a dominant victory at home.
The 5-foot-9, 150-pound quarterback surpassed his touchdown total from last season (five) in just his first game as San Bernardino totaled more than 500 yards on offense.
