Inland Area Prep Football Top 10
1. Vista Murrieta (6-0) — Purportedly, the Broncos struggled on the road against the Pumas in Week 6. Huh, doesn’t really reflect in the score line.
LAST RANKED: No. 1. LAST WEEK: d. Temecula Chaparral 27-10 on Oct. 14.
WEEK SEVEN: vs. Temecula Valley on FRIDAY.
2. Corona Centennial (5-1) — The Huskies haven’t scored fewer than 48 points in four weeks. It’s a good time for their offense to be peaking, considering they play for the Big VIII League title this week.
LAST RANKED: No. 2. LAST WEEK: d. Corona Santiago 54-32 on Oct. 14.
WEEK SEVEN: vs. Norco on FRIDAY.
3. Redlands East Valley (6-0) — The Wildcats continue to win games, either by blowout or by the skin of their teeth. Maybe coach Kurt Bruich really does have a winner there in Mentone.
LAST RANKED: No. 3. LAST WEEK: d. Fontana Miller 21-13 on Oct. 14.
WEEK SEVEN: at Redlands on FRIDAY.
4. Moreno Valley Rancho Verde (6-0) — The Mustangs proved that they, and they alone, belong atop the Inland Valley League with consecutive wins over two of its better teams.
LAST RANKED: No. 4. LAST WEEK: d. Riverside La Sierra 49-21 on Oct. 14.
WEEK SEVEN: vs. Moreno Valley Vista del Lago on FRIDAY.
5. Rancho Cucamonga (6-0) — The Cougars opened Baseline League play with a blowout victory over a tomato can. Probably not the best preparation for coach Nick Baiz’s next opponent.
LAST RANKED: No. 5. LAST WEEK: d. Rancho Cucamonga Alta Loma 41-17 on Oct. 14.
WEEK SEVEN: at No. 10 Upland on FRIDAY.
6. San Bernardino Cajon (6-0) — The Cowboys haven’t played a playoff team in a month. That’ll come to an end this week.
LAST RANKED: No. 6. LAST WEEK: d. San Bernardino Pacific 49-6 on Oct. 14.
WEEK SEVEN: at Rialto on FRIDAY.
7. Riverside North (5-1) — The Huskies were practically gifted a victory last week. Seriously, North’s first four possessions began inside its opponent’s 20-yard line. That’s insane.
LAST RANKED: No. 7. LAST WEEK: d. Riverside Poly 48-7 on Oct. 14.
WEEK SEVEN: at Eastvale Roosevelt on FRIDAY.
8. Elsinore (5-1) — The Tigers scored what should be considered a monumental number of points in Week 6. Coach Tony Peralta’s teams usually live in the 25-29 range.
LAST RANKED: No. 7. LAST WEEK: d. Lake Elsinore Lakeside 46-10 on Oct. 14.
WEEK SEVEN: vs. Lake Elsinore Temescal Canyon on FRIDAY.
9. Yucaipa (6-0) — The Thunderbids squawked, err squeaked away with a victory in Week 6. Do the T’birds sit upon a precarious perch at No. 9? Maybe, with Redlands, Fontana Miller and No. 3 REV still on the schedule.
LAST RANKED: No. 9. LAST WEEK: d. Rialto Eisenhower 24-21 on Oct. 14.
WEEK SEVEN: vs. Fontana on FRIDAY.
10. Upland (6-0) — The Highlanders enter the Inland Area Top 10 for the first time this season. How long they stay here and how fast they rise may all depend upon their performance this week.
LAST RANKED: Not Ranked. LAST WEEK: d. Rancho Cucamonga Etiwanda 24-17 on Oct. 14.
WEEK SEVEN: vs. No. 5 Rancho Cucamonga on FRIDAY.
DROPPED OUT: Norco (4-1).
JUST MISSED: Perris Citrus Hill (6-0), Fontana Summit (5-1), Riverside La Sierra (5-1).
