FOUR & MORE: Best Inland Area Games

PREP SOCCER PLAYOFFS 2011-’12

1. Temecula Chaparral (11-5-5) at Riverside King (17-7-2) — This isn’t the first time these two programs have met with something on the line. Todd Mapes’ charges beat the Pumas in the 2011 Tom Tilson Classic semifinals, a season after losing to Chaparral in the ’10 Tilson final. King holds a 2-1-0 edge all-time heading into this CIF-Southern Section Division 2 first round game.
PREDICTION: King 3, Chaparral 1

2. Lake Elsinore Lakeside (14-7-3) at Rialto Carter (16-4-4) — Coach Colin Gilliland and the Lancers had trouble finding a rythm this season, falling from their perch atop the Sunbelt League as a result. Can their massive talent surface in this CIF-SS Division 5 first round game against the Lions, who came within a whisker of winning their first-ever San Andreas League title?
PREDICTION: Carter 4, Lakeside 2

3. San Bernardino San Gorgonio (12-9-4) at Victorville Silverado (14-3-3) — Senior forward Roberto Ochoa (5-foot-9, 165 pounds) scored a team-high 17 goals for the Spartans, who tied for fourth in the San Andreas League. The host Hawks are Desert Sky League champions, but should be wary of an upset in this CIF-SS Division 5 first round game.
PREDICTION: San Gorgonio 3, Silverado 1

4. Victorville Victor Valley (10-8-2) at Perris (16-6-1) — The host Panthers dominated the Sunbelt League, posting a 10-0-0 record. Senior forward Enrique Landeros has a team-high 16 goals heading into today’s CIF-SS Division 5 first round game vs. the Jackrabbits, who are 3-3-0 over their last six games.
PREDICTION: Perris 3, Victor Valley 0

AND MORE: La Quinta (9-11-3) at No. 1 MoVal Valley View (18-2-3) — It’s been a season of highs and lows for the Coach John Kush and Inland Area’s top-ranked Eagles, who at one time found themselves riding a 10-game shutout streak but now find themselves in a CIF-SS Division 2 first round game without senior F Miguel Hernandez (broken foot).
PREDICTION: Valley View 2, La Quinta 0
