Inland Area Prep Soccer Top 10

1. Moreno Valley Valley View (21-2-3) — Miguel Hernandez who? The Eagles have outscored their last two playoff opponents 4-0 en route to an appearance in the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 semifinals. Senior MF Alex Turkson, the reigning Inland Area Player Of The Year, must be taking his game to another level.

2. Fontana (21-2-1) — The Steelers’ fantastic season came to an end in a one-goal loss at home in the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 quarterfinals. Seniors Jonathan Madrid and Carlos Cruz both scored in the loss. Fohi’s all-time best scoring duo, they combined for 49 goals this season.

3. Hesperia Oak Hills (23-2-3) — The Bulldogs are living by the skin on their teeth, having posted won each of their playoff games either by a game-winning goal in overtime or via shootout en route to the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 semifinals. Sophomore F Jose Nuno scored his team-leading 18th goal in the win over Artesia in the quarters.

4. Claremont (23-3-2) — The Wolfpack suffered shutout losses twice this season, both to Inland Valley League teams. Coach Fred Bruce-Oliver’s team just wasn’t as dangerous in its attacking third as they were last season.

5. Perris Citrus Hill (21-4-2) — The Hawks have been scoring goals at an alarming rate, an are currently sporting a plus-12 goal-differential on their way to a second consecutive appearance in a CIF-Southern Section Division 6 semifinal. Senior striker Edurado Zavala (5-foot-7, 134 pounds) scored a brace in the win over Windward.

6. San Bernardino Cajon (22-4-5) — The Cowboys are unblemished in the CIF-Southern Section Division 5 playoffs, outscoring opponents 11-0 thus far. They did, however, score each of their three goals in the second half against Perris.

8. Riverside La Sierra (18-4-5) — The Eagles are suprise semifinalists in CIF-Southern Section Division 2, defeating previously-ranked Riverside King and No. 4 Claremont along the way. Senior striker Kenshiro Daniels leads Coach Dave Eckenrod’s side with with 26 goals.

9. Redlands East Valley (15-4-8) — The Wildcats finished just 1-2-1 over their final four games to slide right out of the playoffs. A late-season scoring slump proved too much to overcome.
