Inland Area Prep Football Top 10

THROUGH WEEK NINE

1. Rancho Cucamonga (9-0) — The Cougars continue to defy pollsters in the CIF-SS’ Inland Division as they prepare for what-should-be their toughest game of the year.
THIS SEASON: 9-0 overall, 4-0 Baseline League. LAST SEASON: 10-3 overall, 4-1 Baseline League.
LAST RANKED: No. 1.
LAST GAME: def. Rancho Cucamonga Alta Loma 44-7 in a Baseline League game on Friday, Oct. 25.
WEEK TEN: at Upland on FRIDAY.

2. Vista Murrieta (8-1) — Broncos played a whole lot of reserves in their win over Murrieta Mesa, and may be the best team in the Inland Area. We should find out for sure in a few weeks.
THIS SEASON: 8-1 overall, 4-0 Southwestern League. LAST SEASON: 13-1 overall, 5-0 Southwestern League.
LAST RANKED: No. 2.

WEEK TEN: at No. 4 Temecula Chaparral on FRIDAY.

3. Corona Centennial (7-2) — Huskies made sushi of the Sharks in Week 9, just like they said they would, and stretched their Big VIII League unbeaten streak to 24 games.
THIS SEASON: 7-2 overall, 4-0 Big VIII League. LAST SEASON: 14-2 overall, 6-0 Big VIII League.
LAST RANKED: No. 3.
LAST GAME: def. No. 6 Corona Santiago 53-24 in a Big VIII League League game on Friday, Nov. 1.
WEEK TEN: vs. Corona on FRIDAY.

4. Temecula Chaparral (7-2) — Pumas pounce all the way up to No. 4 in the Inland Area Top 10 this week following a convincing 17-0 shutout of Murrieta Valley. But bigger prey yet await.
THIS SEASON: 7-2 overall, 4-0 Southwestern League. LAST SEASON: 7-4 overall, 3-2 Southwestern League.
LAST RANKED: No. 6.
LAST GAME: def. No. 10 Murrieta Valley 17-0 in a Southwestern League game on Friday, Nov. 10.
WEEK TEN: vs. No. 2 Vista Murrieta on FRIDAY.

5. Menifee Heritage (8-1) — Patriots were perfect in Week 9 against a lesser opponent, but must play up a level (or three) in their regular season-ender vs. Elsinore.
THIS SEASON: 8-1 overall, 4-0 Sunbelt League. LAST SEASON: 11-2 overall, 5-0 Sunbelt League.
LAST RANKED: No. 5.
LAST GAME: def. Lake Elsinore Lakeside 49-0 in a Sunbelt League game on Friday, Nov. 1.

6. Corona Santiago (5-4) — Sharks have had such an up-down-season, and now they play Norco in a battle for second place in the Big VIII League? Just brutal.
THIS SEASON: 5-4 overall, 3-1 Big VIII League. LAST SEASON: 6-5 overall, 4-1 Big VIII League.
LAST RANKED: No. 4.
LAST GAME: lost, 52-24, to No. 3 Corona Centennial in a Big VIII League game on Friday, Nov. 1.

7. Temecula Great Oak (5-4) — Wolfpack bounced back from consecutive losses with an uber-productive night from WR Brandon Presley, who had four touchdown catches and 227 receiving yards.
THIS SEASON: 5-4 overall, 2-2 Southwestern League. LAST SEASON: 5-6 overall, 2-3 Southwestern League.
LAST RANKED: No. 7.

8. San Bernardino San Gorgonio (9-0) — Spartans clinched the SAL title as their massive offensive roll continued in a ‘revenge’ing Week 9 victory vs. Carter.
THIS SEASON: 9-0 overall, 4-0 San Andreas League. LAST SEASON: 8-3 overall, 4-1 San Andreas League.
LAST RANKED: No. 10.

WEEK TEN: at San Bernardino Arroyo Valley on FRIDAY.

9. Perris Citrus Hill (8-1) — Hawks edged Tahquitz in the Mt. Pass League’s game of the year in Week 9, almost securing the defending Eastern Division champs a seed in the playoffs.
THIS SEASON: 8-1 overall, 4-0 Mountain Pass League. LAST SEASON: 14-0 overall, 5-0 Mountain Pass League.
LAST RANKED: No. 9.
LAST GAME: def. Hemet Tahquitz 31-28 in a Mt. Pass League game on Friday, Nov. 1.
WEEK TEN: at Hemet West Valley on FRIDAY.

10. Murrieta Valley (5-4) — Nighthawks continue downward spiral vs. Southwestern League opponents, with last week’s shutout loss to Chaparral the lowest point to date.
THIS SEASON: 5-4 overall, 1-3 Southwestern League. LAST SEASON: 10-2 overall, 4-1 Southwestern League.
LAST RANKED: No. 8.
