C.J. Stroud, Rancho Cucamonga…

Rancho Cucamonga senior QB C.J. Stroud has been selected InlandFieldhouse.com’s Player of the Week after his Week 0 performance in a 50-31 victory over Roosevelt in a nonleague game on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019.

STROUD

Stroud completed 24 of 41 pass attempts for 381 yards and five touchdowns as the Cougars (1-0 overall) opened the season with a runaway victory over a powerful Big VIII League opponent.

The 6-foot-4, 192-pound pocket passer set single-game career highs for yards and touchdowns in the victory, the Cougars’ first in a season opener for second-year coach Mark Verti. Stroud had previously thrown for 300-plus yards just once (vs. Corona Centennial in CIF-SS quarterfinals last year).

Stroud also surpassed 3,000 career passing yards in the win, and had his career passer rating (100.7) rose to triple digits for the first time.

ALSO CONSIDERED:
RB Eddie Allain (Norte Vista) – 40-241 rush, 2 TDs
RB Silas Bolden (Rancho Cucamonga) – 16-207 rush, 2 TDs
QB Camren Payne (Hillcrest) – 10-13-157 pass, 2 TDs & 19-84 rush, TD
