GAME OF THE WEEK: Orange at Riverside North

THE DETAILS:
Orange vs. Riverside North
CIF-Southern Section – Week 12
Division 10 Playoffs – Quarterfinal Round
At Riverside (Calif.) J.W. North High School
Kickoff: 7 p.m. PT on Friday, Nov. 15

ORANGE (10-1 overall, 5-0 Orange Coast League) has committed to a scorched Earth policy since a double-overtime loss to Yorba Linda in Week 1, defeating teams by an average of seven touchdowns and crushing hundreds of souls along the way. Junior QB Daylen Pedroza has been excellent all season, completing 72-percent of his pass attempts with 23 TDs and just three INTs while also adding 800-plaus rushing yards and 16 rushing TDs. Senior RB Isacc Galvan leads the Panthers with more than 1,700 rushing yards and 23 TDs.
HEAD COACH: Robert Pedroza
ROSTER – QB: Daylen Pedroza, Jr. (6-foot-1, 175 pounds); RB/CB: Isacc Galvan, Sr. (5-6, 185); RB: Isac Adetoye, Jr. (5-8, 175); WR/S: Andrew Andrade, Sr. (5-10, 160); DL: Joe Aguilera, Jr. (6-foot, 215); OLB/RB: Jeremiah Banks, Sr. (5-11, 220); MLB: Christopher Quiroga, Sr. (5-11, 200); CB/FS: Bryan Fausto, Sr. (5-9, 160)

RIVERSIDE NORTH (10-1 overall, 5-0 Inland Valley League) is riding a nine-game winning streak but would do well to be prepared for a dogfight, no pun intended. The Huskies pummeled Montebello, 33-7, in the 1st Round, but Orange is a defending CIF section champion and the most talented team they’ve played since Week 1. Junior QB Coryon Rayford passed for two TDs and ran for another in last week’s win, but he must limit his mistakes (two INTs vs. Montebello) if the Huskies have a shot this week. Sophomore RB Venasio Mikaele went over the 1,000-yard rushing mark in last week’s win, and remains the focal point of the offense.
HEAD COACH: Dennis Brown
ROSTER – QB: Coryon Rayford, Jr. (5-foot-10, 160 pounds); RB: Venasio Mikaele, Soph. (5-9, 200); WR: Jadon Adams, Sr. (5-10, 180); WR: Kavon Baptiste, Jr. (6-3, 180); OL: Austin Berry, Jr. (6-4, 245); DE: Michael McCullough, Sr. (6-3, 230); DB: Dylan Kurtz, Sr. (5-11, 160); K: Taren Schive, Jr. (6-foot, 160)

THE DIFFERENCE:
North is having its best season in years, but Orange is on another level right now.

THE FINAL SCORE (PROJECTED):
Orange 28, J.W. North 18
