Temecula Valley senior Samuel Gbatu has been selected InlandFieldhouse.com’s Player of the Week after a stupefying Week 12-B performance as the Golden Bears defeated Riverside Norte Vista, 27-14, in a CIF-Southern Section Division 6 quarterfinal round playoff game on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021.
Gbatu had seven receptions for 163 yards and a touchdown on offense, and nine tackles (six solo), an interception and a fumble recovery for a touchdown on defense for Golden Bears (9-3 overall), who have reached the semifinal round twice in the last two full seasons.
The 5-foot-10, 165-pound playmaker led the team with 42 catches for more than 800 yards, and also had a team-leading six interceptions on the season.
