FOUR & MORE: Best Inland Area NCAA’ers

1. Kawli Leonard, San Diego State Aztecs — The 6-foot-7 sophomore forward has been a dominant force in the middle for coach Steve Fischer, and will be counted on to score points and grab rebounds when SDSU plays Northern Colorado on Thursday. A native of Riverside, Leonard won a CIF-Southern Section title his senior season at Riverside King HS.

2. Malcolm Lee, UCLA Bruins — The 6-foot-5 junior guard has been the best perimeter defender for coach Ben Howland, and will be in the starting lineup when UCLA plays Michigan State on Thursday. A native of Moreno Valley, Lee scored 1,760 points in four varsity seasons at Riverside North HS.

3. Melvin Goins, Tennessee Volunteers — The 5-foot-11 senior point guard already has one stellar NCAA Tournament under his belt for coach Bruce Pearl, and is sure to see plenty of action when Tennessee plays Michigan on Thursday. A native of San Diego, Goins was a two-time JUCO All-American at Mt. San Jacinto College.

4. Donta Smith, USC Trojans — The 5-foot-11 senior guard played a key reserve role for coach Kevin O’Neill, and will likely play quality minutes when USC plays Virginia Commonwealth on Wednesday. A native of Pomona, Smith starred at both Diamond Ranch HS and Mt. San Antonio College.

AND MORE: Brock Zylstra, BYU Cougars — The 6-foot-6 sophomore guard/forward is a little used bench player for coach Dave Rose, and will likely be sitting for some seriously long stretches when BYU plays Wofford on Thursday. A native of La Verne, Zylstra was a two-time Miramonte League MVP at Bonita HS.
