FOUR & MORE: Best Inland Area OFs

PREP BASEBALL OUTFIELDERS 2012

1. Justin Gheorghe, Riverside North — The reigning Inland Area Football Player Of The Year, Gheorghe (6-foot-1, 170 pounds) is one of the offensive catalysts for the defending CIF-Southern Section Division 1 champions, hitting toward the top of Coach Steve Madril’s lineup card.

2. Alec Morabito, Yucaipa — Likely coveted just as much for his left arm as he is his athleticism, this 5-foot-11, 175-pounder is having a terrific year at the plate. He boasts a .342 BA with 14 runs, 16 RBI and five steals in five attempts.

3. R.J. Ybarra, Riverside Poly — The kid hits a ton, can play catcher but has nearly been lost in the turnstile that has been the Bears head coaching position. Still, he’s 6-foot-2, 205 pounds and has a BA to the tune of .615 (1.077 SLG) with six HRs and 18 RBI in 17 games.

4. Anthony Aguila, Redlands — In an outfield (and team) filled with stars, this 5-foot-10, 170-pound junior is putting up the biggest numbers of all with a .379 BA with 23 RBI in 23 games. He also had a 13-games hitting streak from 3/13 to 4/20 that ranks as one of the longest in the Inland Area this season.

AND MORE: Sean Aspinall, Upland — A mostly singles hitter putting together a very solid season for the Highlanders, Aspinall (6-foot, 170) is batting .338 with just six XBHs among his 23 hits but has 17 RBI and 20 runs.

………………….Mickey Chupek, Woodcrest Christian — This 5-foot-11, 160-pounder doesn’t get man RBI opportunites but he does get on base (.582 OBP) and score (28 runs in 20 games). He’s also batting .396 with six SB in six SBAs.

………………….Zak Cavazos, Corona — Among CIF-Southern Section leaders in SBs (24), this 5-foot-10, 155-pounder is that kid who personifies “The Jet” from “The Sandlot” movie. Don’t sleep on his other offensive numbers (.407 BA, six 2Bs, 24 runs) or he’ll burn you.

………………….Sean Smith, Redlands — Queitly putting together a great all-around season, Smith (5-foot-10, 160 pounds) is batting .333 (26 for 78) with 20 SBs in 22 SBAs. Has seven multi-hit games.

………………….Brandon Chambers, Apple Valley Granite Hills — One of the most feared hitters in the High Desert, Chambers (5-foot-11, 180 pounds) has 27 RBI in just 22 games. A streaky .377 hitter, he also has 12 XBHs and scored 19 runs.

………………….Darryl Miller, Redlands — Scary is the term best used to describe the potential afforded Miller (6-foot-2, 200 pounds), who could be the best of Inland Area No. 1 Redlands all-junior outfield. He’s batting .400 (28 for 70) with 21 RBI and 19 runs.

………………….Javon Evans, San Jacinto — A powerhouse in the middle of the Tigers’ lineup, this 6-foot, 200-poumder has hits in all but four of his 21 games, and his batting .463 with 15 XBHs, 19 RBI and 23 runs.
