Inland Area Prep Baseball Top 10

1. Riverside North (21-3) — The Huskies move back into the No. 1 spot on the heels of a nine-game winning streak and an unbeaten Big VIII League record. Senior 1B Gabriel Clark (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) can seemingly do it all, pitching his team to a victory over Riverside Poly on 4/27.

2. Redlands (19-4) — The Terriers dropped their two-game series vs. No. 7 Yucaipa, and were outscored 4-1 in the process. Coach Estevan Valencia’s players have now lost three of their last four games, all against ranked teams.

3. Redlands East Valley (16-6) — The Wildcats are unbeaten since splitting their two-game league series with No. 1 Redlands a week ago, including a two-game sweep of Rialto Eisenhower. Senior P/INF/OF Jackson McClelland (6-foot-3, 190 pounds) went 3 for 3 with two home runs and five RBI in a 15-2 romp over Ike on 4/27.

4. La Verne Bonita (22-1) — The Bearcats’ winning streak is now an Inland Area-best 18 consecutive games. Senior INF/OF Woody Reyes (5-foot-6, 165 pounds) had a two-run single that keyed a 4-1 victory over Thousand Oaks on 4/24 to keep the B-Cats alive at the Corona Centennial HS Tournament.

5. Woodcrest Christian (16-3) — The Royals have bounced back from their loss to ACA on 4/19 with back-to-back victories in which they outscored their opponents 18-3. Sophomore INF/OF Dante Chupek (5-foot-9, 140 pounds) had a three-run triple in the sixth inning of a 5-3 win over Ontario Christian on 4/24.

6. Elsinore (15-5) — The Tigers brought out the whoopin’ sticks against Perris, pummeling the lowly Panthers by a combined scored of 47-5 in two games last week. Junior C John Taurinsky (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) went a combined 9 for 12 with two doubles, two home runs and nine RBI in the series.

Jurupa Valley (17-2) — The Jaguars have won 14 consecutive games, remain unbeaten (11-0) in the Sunkist League and are looking right at a No. 2 overall seed in the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 playoffs. Junior OF Martin Quiroz (5-foot-8, 155 pounds) had an RBI triple in the eighth inning to beat Summit on 4/27.

9. Rancho Cucamonga Alta Loma (15-5) — The Braves drop after senior LHP Bryan Conant (6-foot-4, 205 pounds) faltered vs. the bottom of Los Osos’ lineup at the Battle of the Baseline on 4/28. The Bears No. 7, 8 & 9 hitters went a combined 4 for 9 with three XBHs and three RBI off Conant (3-2), who has lost his last two starts.
