Inland Area Prep Baseball Top 10

1. La Verne Bonita (29-2) — The Bearcats have tightened the screws in their last two CIF-Southern Section Division 3 playoff games, winning by a total margin of just 7-4 after pounding San Berdoo San Gorgonio 18-1 in the 1st Round. Senior P/SS Justin Garza (5-foot-10, 170 pounds) is really putting his fingerprints upon this postseason; he struck out seven, stole a base and scored a run in a Quarterfinal Round victory over Paramount on 5/25.

Senior 1B/P Gabriel Clark (6-foot-2, 200 pounds) went out with a bang, though, blasting two home runs in the loss. Don’t expect this team to fall much farther; one game does not a season make.

NEXT PITCH: Season complete.

4. Redlands (24-6) — The Terriers’ offense was so potent (.352 team BA, 222 runs), and their pitching so often spectacular (1.18 team ERA, .215 BA against), it’s a wonder that the season is over for this team.
LAST RANKED: No. 2.
LAST GAME: lost, 10-2, to Mission Viejo Trabuco Hills in a CIF-SS Division 2 Second Round game on Tuesday, May 22.
NEXT PITCH: Season complete.

5. Corona (18-14) — The Panthers have come out of nowhere (5th-place team in Big VIII to be exact) to make the deepest run of any Inland Area team in CIF-Southern Section Division 1. Senior P Daniel Pena (5-foot-11, 165 pounds) has been the ace of this team, posting a sub-1.50 ERA this season.
