FOUR & MORE: Best Inland Area NCAA’ers

SUPER REGIONALS 2012

1. Brandon McMitt, Stony Brook — Selected to All-America East first team, McMitt (5-foot-9, 170 pounds) is from Chino Hills but matriculated from La Puente Bishop Amat HS. He went 8-2 with 2.26 ERA in 14 starts this season. Among his season higlights are a nine shutout innings in the Seawolves 2-1 11-inning victory over Yale.

2. Kyle Garlick, Oregon — A sophomore from Chino Hills HS, Garlick (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) is among the Ducks’ biggest offensive threats, hitting .287 with 11 doubles, four triples, six home runs and 41 RBIs.

3. Arby Fields, LSU — In his first season since transferring from Northwestern, Fields (5-foot-9, 205 pounds), a Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos HS alum, hit just .203 with 12 RBIs in 46 games. Needless to say, it has not been the type of season that was expected from a player of his caliber.

4. Christian Griffiths, Stanford — A red-shirt junior C/OF from Apple Valley Granite Hills, Griffiths (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) made 18 starts at DH and one at catcher, and has four doubles and one home run.

AND MORE: Brett and Ryan Hambright, Oregon — Brett (6-foot-1, 215 pounds), a red-shirt senior and Ryan (6-2, 200), a junior, both graduated from Lake Elsinore Temescal Canyon HS. Brett hit .217 as the team’s starting catcher while Ryan fared better, batting .265 as backup middle infielder.
