FOLLOWING WEEK SEVEN

1. Vista Murrieta (7-0) — Scored a season-high 65 points in a huge victory over Great Oak but begins as tough a stretch of games (at Murrieta Valley, at Murrieta Mesa, vs. No. 7 Chaparral) as any team in the Inland Area.
THIS SEASON: 7-0 overall, 2-0 Southwestern League. LAST SEASON: 9-5 overall, 5-0 Southwestern League.
LAST RANKED: No. 1.

2. Upland (7-0) — The ‘U’ got back to homeostasis, getting out to an 18-0 lead vs. Glendora and scoring 45-plus in another Baseline League victory. Senior QB Nate Romine (6-foot, 195 pounds) had six total TDs and more than 400 total yards in the rout.
THIS SEASON: 7-0 overall, 2-0 Baseline League. LAST SEASON: 12-1 overall, 5-0 Baseline League.
LAST RANKED: No. 2.

3. Corona Centennial (6-1) — Super-narrow victory over Norco may have re-inforced sense of urgency for this team. RBs Austin Renken and Tre Watson each for a TD and gained more than 115 yards for the Huskies, who totaled more than 300 rushing yards in the game.
THIS SEASON: 1-1 overall, 0-0 Big VIII League. LAST SEASON: 12-2 overall, 7-0 Big VIII League.
LAST RANKED: No. 3.

WEEK EIGHT: vs. Riverside King on FRIDAY.

4. Menifee Heritage (6-1) — Patriots cannot get caught looking ahead to Week 10 game vs. Elsinore. To Coach Kurt Broach’s credit they seemingly have not, outscoring Perris and Temescal Canyon by a combined 76-13 the last two weeks.
THIS SEASON: 6-1 overall, 2-0 Sunbelt League. LAST SEASON: 12-2 overall, 5-0 Sunbelt League.
LAST RANKED: No. 4.
LAST GAME: def. Lake Elsinore Temescal Canyon 24-7 in a Sunbelt League game on Friday, Oct. 12.
WEEK EIGHT: vs. Menifee Paloma Valley on FRIDAY.

5. Perris Citrus Hill (7-0) — The only league test awaits in Week 9 after Hawks disposed of Beaumont in the Cougars’ new cathedral. Junior RB P.J. Walker (5-foot-9, 195 pounds) ran for 208 yards and four TDs in the victory.
THIS SEASON: 7-0 overall, 2-0 Mountain Pass League. LAST SEASON: 12-1 overall, 5-0 Mountain Pass League.
LAST RANKED: No. 5.

6. Fontana Summit (6-1) — SkyHawks probably took their foot off the gas in the second half vs. Fontana, as long-time Steelers fans continue to long for the good ol’ days when Fon-tucky was a one-school town.
THIS SEASON: 6-1 overall, 2-0 Sunkist League. LAST SEASON: 13-1 overall, 5-0 Sunkist League.
LAST RANKED: No. 6.
LAST GAME: def. Fontana 41-0 in a Sunkist League game on Friday, Oct. 12.
WEEK EIGHT: vs. Grand Terrace on FRIDAY.

7. Temecula Chaparral (6-1) — Playing the kind of lights-out defense that would make Ray Lewis proud, the Pumas are about to force a Week 10 showdown vs. No. 1 Vista Murrieta. Coach Ryan Tukua’s players have allowed a total of just 40 points the last four weeks, and forced five turnovers last week.
THIS SEASON: 6-1 overall, 0-0 Southwestern League. LAST SEASON: 7-5 overall, 4-1 Southwestern League.
LAST RANKED: No. 7.
LAST GAME: d. Temecula Valley 42-6 in a Southwestern League game on Friday, Oct. 12.
WEEK EIGHT: at Temecula Great Oak on THURSDAY.

8. Rialto Carter (7-0) — Lions Survived a scored vs. cross-town rival Rialto in Week 7, and remain on track for a second consecutive San Andreas League title. Coach Alex Pierce’s defense be better this year, even with the departure of former DC Vinny Fazio?
THIS SEASON: 7-0 overall, 2-0 San Andreas League. LAST SEASON: 11-2 overall, 7-0 San Andreas League.
LAST RANKED: No. 8.
LAST GAME: def. Rialto 30-28 in a San Andreas League game on Friday, Oct. 12.
WEEK EIGHT: vs. San Bernardino San Gorgonio on FRIDAY.

9. Rancho Cucamonga (5-2) — Cougars have had two weeks to think about what went wrong vs. Upland. The answer? We’ll see what Coach Nick Baiz worked on during the bye week.
THIS SEASON 5-2 overall, 1-1 Baseline League. LAST SEASON: 11-2 overall, 4-1 Baseline League.
LAST RANKED: No. 9.
LAST GAME: lost 19-7 to No. 2 Upland in a Baseline League game on Friday, Oct. 12.

10. Redlands East Valley (3-3) — Finally back to .500 after a torturous preseason, Wildcats likely to claw way back to CBL title. First, Coach Kurt Bruich’s team will fight for that old Smudge Pot vs. Redlands this week.
THIS SEASON: 3-3 overall, 2-0 Citrus Belt League. LAST SEASON: 11-1 overall, 5-0 Citrus Belt League.
LAST RANKED: No. 10.
LAST GAME: def. Fontana Miller 45-9 in a Citrus Belt League game on Friday, Oct. 12.
