CHINO HILLS (PICK) at RIVERSIDE ARLINGTON — The Huskies are a perpetual playoff team. The Lions are reeling from the shocking game-related death of a reserve junior linebacker.

REDLANDS CITRUS VALLEY (-8) at SAN GORGONIO — Blackhawks were a CIF-SS East Valley Division quarterfinalist but play Spartans and talented QB Tahir Rasheed-Mills.

ETIWANDA (-7) at FONTANA SUMMIT — Brandon Rohrer’s defense will be under attack in his first game as Eagles head coach; Ultra-talented at several skill positions, SkyHawks seek good start.

NEWHALL HART (+14) at CORONA SANTIAGO — Mike Herrington’s Indians are one of the best teams in the state, may be playing down a notch in opener vs. rebuilding Sharks

JURUPA HILLS (+12) at MURRIETA MESA — QB Damion Wright leads Spartans, ranked No. 2 in the preseason CIF-SS East Valley Division poll, south to take on bullied Rams.

HENDERSON (NEV.) LIBERTY (-28) at CORONA CENTENNIAL — Rich Muraco’s Patriots (0-1) are going through a meat grinder, travel to Huskies (0-0), the CIF-SS Inland Division champion.

MURRIETA VALLEY (+3) at TEMESCAL CANYON — New coach Vinny Fazio went from driving a used car to sitting behind the wheel of an Aston Martin. Titans’ defense typically tough.

RIVERSIDE POLY (-17) at PERRIS CITRUS HILL — Bears’ season likely to start out of hole under new coach Dennis Brown; Hawks RB P.J. Walker crushed Poly for 300-plus last year.

MoVAL RANCHO VERDE (+4) at ELSINORE — Electric QB Sheriron Jones gets his first chance to play since suffering a broken leg last year, takes Mustangs to face dangerous Tigers.

RUBIDOUX (+1) AT RIVERSIDE RAMONA — Falcons and Rams get going a day early on Thursday night in a game the could be decided in the fourth quarter — or the first if Rubidoux gets hot.

SAN JACINTO (-24) AT MENIFEE HERITAGE — Tough, tough task for the Tigers to travel across the valley and face almost certain loss to rampaging Patriots.
