Inland Area Prep Football Top 10

THROUGH WEEK ONE

1. Corona Centennial (2-0) — Survived another shootout, their second in just two weeks this season. RB Tre Watson (Sr., 5-11, 195) is a big reason why with 12 TDs and nearly 800 yards.
THIS SEASON: 2-0 overall, 0-0 Big VIII League. LAST SEASON: 14-2 overall, 6-0 Big VIII League.
LAST RANKED: No. 1.
LAST GAME: def. Ventura St. Bonaventure 69-55 in a non-league game on Saturday, Sept. 7.
WEEK TWO: vs. Long Beach Poly at Mission Viejo HS on FRIDAY.

2. Vista Murrieta (1-0) — QB Coltin Gerhart (Sr., 6-3, 220) broke off some big runs in his first start for the Broncos, who looked like a well-oiled machine in their season opener.
THIS SEASON: 1-0 overall, 0-0 Southwestern League. LAST SEASON: 13-1 overall, 5-0 Southwestern League.
LAST RANKED: No. 2.
LAST GAME: def. Downey 66-28 in a non-league game on Friday, Sept. 6.

3. Perris Citrus Hill (2-0) — Another quality performance from QB Brett Hollingsworth (Sr., 6-2, 195), who threw for three more TDs in an easy win. Standout RB P.J. Walker (Sr., 5-10, 200) has yet to dazzle, however.
THIS SEASON: 2-0 overall, 0-0 Mountain Pass League. LAST SEASON: 14-0 overall, 5-0 Mountain Pass League.
LAST RANKED: No. 4.

WEEK TWO: at Riverside Arlington on THURSDAY.

4. Menifee Heritage (2-0) — Three running backs ran for more than 95 yards as the Patriots got their massive rushing attack clicking, and spoiled North’s heralded homecoming.
THIS SEASON: 2-0 overall, 0-0 Sunbelt League. LAST SEASON: 11-2 overall, 5-0 Sunbelt League.
LAST RANKED: No. 5.
LAST GAME: def. Riverside North 38-12 in a non-league game on Friday, Sept. 6.
WEEK TWO: at Beaumont on FRIDAY.

5. Upland (0-2) — The ‘U’ may mean ‘under water’ as the Highlanders stay winless following another non-league defeat. Is it possible that the weight of all those transfers is bringing down SS Tim Salter and Co.?
THIS SEASON: 0-2 overall, 0-0 Baseline League. LAST SEASON: 12-1 overall, 5-0 Baseline League.
LAST RANKED: No. 3.
LAST GAME: lost, 57-28, to Westlake Village Oaks Christian in a non-league game on Saturday, Sept. 7
WEEK TWO: at Long Beach Jordan on FRIDAY.

6. Fontana Kaiser (1-0) — The Cats moved to 5-0 all-time by doubling up on Apple Valley in Week 1. As usual, the defense came up big as DB Dwayne Parchment (Sr. 5-10, 185) returned an INT for a TD.
THIS SEASON: 1-0 overall, 0-0 Sunkist League. LAST SEASON: 14-1 overall, 4-1 Sunkist League.
LAST RANKED: No. 6.
LAST GAME: def. Apple Valley 28-14 in a non-league game on Friday, Sept. 6.
WEEK TWO: at San Bernardino Cajon on FRIDAY.

7. Rialto Carter (1-0) — Lions got a standout performance from RB Ben Fitzpatrick (Sr. 5-7, 176), who ran for 124 yards and a TD in a season-opening victory over a tough cross-county opponent.
THIS SEASON: 1-0 overall, 0-0 San Andreas League. LAST SEASON: 11-2 overall, 7-0 San Andreas League.
LAST RANKED: No. 7.
LAST GAME: def. Redlands 20-16 in a non-league game on Friday, Sept. 6.
WEEK TWO: vs. Ontario Colony on FRIDAY.

8. Rancho Cucamonga (2-0) — Played another solid game on defense, and QB Gage Pucci (Sr., 6-foot, 190) threw for a touchdown as Cougars outclassed Norco. Non-league lineup doesn’t get any easier this week.
THIS SEASON: 1-0 overall, 0-0 Baseline League. LAST SEASON: 10-3 overall, 4-1 Baseline League.
LAST RANKED: No. 8.

WEEK ONE: vs. La Puente Bishop Amat at Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos HS on FRIDAY.

9. Eastvale Roosevelt (2-0) — Mustangs opened a lot of eyes having scored 98 points this season. Coach Tony Barile takes show on the road to face biggest test yet.
THIS SEASON: 2-0 overall, 0-0 Big VIII League. LAST SEASON: 3-7 overall, 2-3 Big VIII League.
LAST RANKED: No. 10.
LAST GAME: def. Covina Charter Oak 55-48 in a non-league game on Friday, Sept. 6.
WEEK ONE: at No. 10 Murrieta Valley on FRIDAY.

10. Murrieta Valley (2-0) — New coach, new attitude. Vinny Fazio has tweaked the Nighthawks into a must-see team. And this week, vs. No. 9 Roosevelt, is a must-see game.
THIS SEASON: 2-0 overall, 0-0 Southwestern League. LAST SEASON: 10-2 overall, 4-1 Southwestern League.
LAST RANKED: Not Ranked.
