Take a closer look at Rubidoux senior Roosevelt Carroll and you’ll barely be able to hear him is you don’t listen carefully.

But for what Carroll lacks in interviews he makes up for in game-changing plays, guiding the Falcons (9-2 overall) to the quarterfinals of the CIF-Southern Section Eastern Division playoffs.

Carroll has gone from exciting kick returner as a freshman to a feature back as a sophomore, and after a junior year shuffling in between offense and defense, he’s now a do-whatever-it-takes dynamo.

The 5-foot-8, 165-pound team captain rushed for 56 yards and two touchdowns, had an interception and blocked a field goal as Rubidoux went on the road and defeated Riverside Ramona in a 1st Round game.

We caught up with ‘Velt’ afterward.

FOMB: How tough was it to beat Ramona twice this season?
Carroll: We just practiced for this. We came out and came to play.

FOMB: How much did you watch the Week 0 film this week?
RC: I knew they were going to be a tough team. We just came out and played harder.

FOMB: Is there a memory from this season so far that stands out?
RC: I think about my family. I play for them.

FOMB: How is it the offense is clicking at this point in the season?
RC: We just came to play as a team, worked hard.

FOMB: Have you thought about football after this season?
RC: I’m going to college. after this. My plans are to go to San Diego and play out there.
