THE LOW DOWN:
The Rams (19-10 overall, 11-2 River Valley) can clinch a league title win a win today. Coach Clint Ball’s team has a bunch of talented pieces, sharpened against solid non-league competition and in an advantageous position entering the final week of regular season play. Senior INF Daniel Martinez (.383 BA, 19 RBIs) and 3B Rigo Cano (.316 BA, 23 RBIs) lead the way for Ramona, which has won three of its last four against La Sierra, including a narrow 4-3 win in 14 innings early last month at the RVL Challenge at UC Riverside. Cano is among Inland Area leaders with five HRs.

LaSierraLOGOThe Eagles (9-9 overall, 9-4 River Valley) had won six straight in April before recently dropping two in a row. They bounced back with a 7-5 win over Riverside Hillcrest on Thursday and currently stand two games behind Ramona with two games to play, so wins today and Thursday will mean a share the league title with the Rams. Coach Jason Klug has relied heavily on senior 3B/RHP Adrian Rosell and he’s produced, batting .351 with 21 RBIs. Senior RHP Wyatt Lankford (3-1, 3.04 ERA) leads the team with 31 Ks in 43 innings.
