sonotredamelogoTHE LOW DOWN:
SHERMAN OAKS NOTRE DAME (3-0 overall) has the offense to put up big numbers — the Knights are averaging 41 points per game — but the test comes against one of the nation’s best prep offenses. Which ND defense will show up? The one that shut out Lake Balboa Birmingham in Week 1, or the team that’s allowed at least three touchdowns in its two other wins? There’s little chance this team can stand up to a shootout this week. Two QBs (Erik Zimmerman and Adonis Brown) have seen extended time this season, but senior RB Kylan Wilborn has the bulk of the carries and has seven of the offense’s nine rushing touchdowns. A deep receiving corps is a team strength; The group averages more than 22 yards per reception.
HEAD COACH: Kevin Rooney

centennialLOGOCORONA CENTENNIAL (2-1 overall) put aside its one-point loss to Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy in Week 1 with a more Cen10-like win over Orange Lutheran last week. Junior QB Tanner McKee has thrown for more than 1,000 yards in his first three starts, averaging more than 350 passing yards per game. He also contributes in the running game, gaining nearly 60 yards per game with six TDs. Senior RB Miles Reed is giving the offense everything it needed in its next back — the combination of speed and strength. Reed has delivered more than 180 rushing yards per game at 6.1 yards per carry. Defending against elite teams will always be the ultimate challenge for this program, but the Huskies’ dominant talent level still walks over most SoCal and any league team.
HEAD COACH: Matt Logan
