GAME OF THE WEEK: Norte Vista at Ramona

THE DETAILS:
Norte Vista vs. Ramona
CIF-Southern Section – Week 10
River Valley League
At Riverside (Calif.) Ramona HS
Kickoff: 7 p.m. PT on Friday, Oct. 26

NORTE VISTA (7-2 overall, 3-1 River Valley League) has been on a rampage since losing to RVL champion Hillcrest in the league opener, scoring 63, 48, and 42 points in its last three victories to storm into Week 10 looking for more yardage to chew up before going into the playoffs. Freshman RB Eddie Allain has emerged as the CIF-Southern Section top first-year rusher with 1,175 yards and 18 touchdowns in place of both Chris Melesio and Miron Hazem, both of whom were expected to get significant carries but both have struggled with injuries. Allain’s ability to step in is the reason the Braves are still in playoff contention.
HEAD COACH: Ken Batdorf
ROSTER – QB: Julian Corey, Sr. (5-foot-7, 190 pounds); RB: Chris Melesio, Sr. (5-11, 200); Miron Hazem, Sr. (5-10, 180); Eddie Allain, Fr. (5-10, 155); ; FB: Tristan Goff, Sr. (5-10, 280); TE: Bane Baker, Sr. (6-2, 220); WR: Christian Jurado, Jr. (5-8, 150); OL: Joshua Mameli, Jr. (6-4, 280); DL: Angel Quevedo, Sr. (6-3, 220); LB: Edgar Ugalde, Sr. (5-9, 230); DB: Leo Vargas, Sr. (5-10, 160)

RAMONA (7-2 overall, 3-1 River Valley League) has gotten its act together, built a running game featuring Donte Roby., Jr., and this season and could capture second place in the RVL – and likely secure a playoff spot – with a victory at home in the final week of the regular season. However, the Rams haven’t had a tough assignment in three weeks, and there’s ample reason to worry about rust and other physical factors when they’ve outscored their last two opponents by a combined 113-27 and still need to step up their intensity.
HEAD COACH: Ken Mushinskie
ROSTER – QB: Brandino Osayande, Sr. (5-foot-11, 168 pounds); RB: Donte Roby, Jr. (5-5, 146); Brian Alvarenga, Jr. (5-9, 165); WR: David Cornejo, Jr. (5-11, 175); OL: Carlos Hernandez, Sr. 6-foot, 265); DL: Casey Sanchez, Sr. (5-10, 205); MLB: Vincent Carbajal, Sr. (5-11, 180); DB: Eduardo Aquino, Sr. (5-8, 145); K: Miguel Villa, Jr. (5-10, 170)

THE DIFFERENCE:
Two run-heavy offenses will look to grind the game their way. Norte Vista is a bit more experience at doing that.

THE FINAL SCORE:
Norte Vista 38, Ramona 35
