GAME OF THE WEEK: Citrus Hill vs. Riverside Poly

THE DETAILS:
Perris Citrus Hill vs. Riverside Poly
CIF-Southern Section – Week 5
Nonleague
At Riverside (Calif.) King High School
Kickoff: 7 p.m. PT on Friday, Sept. 27

CITRUS HILL (4-0 overall, 0-0 Mountain Pass League) is off an running under new coach Jason McMains, but with talent like the Hawks have it’s easy to see why they’re still unbeaten. Tonight will be the team’s first rivalry game of the season, however, and emotions might be running a little high. Senior QB Markus Bell doesn’t have to do too much with weapons like A.J. Porter and Armani Orange around.
HEAD COACH: Jason McMains
ROSTER – QB: Markus Bell, Sr. (5-foot-10, 165 pounds); RB: A.J. Porter, Jr. (6-1, 220); RB: Malik Fredrick, Jr. (5-11, 170); WR: Armani Orange, Jr. (5-11, 170); WR: Andrew Brooks, Sr. (5-7, 145); WR: Brett Adams, Sr. (6-foot, 165); DL: Rocky Furrha, Sr. (6-foot, 240); MLB: Elijah Robinson, Sr. (6-2, 230); DB: Artist Orange II, Sr. (6-foot, 155); K: Angel Armenta, Soph., (5-7, 125)

RIVERSIDE POLY (2-2 overall, 0-0 Inland Valley League) is still on that rollercoaster. With a 28-18 loss to Ramona in Week 4, the Bears have done up-down-up-down to start the 2019 season, and will almost certainly have serious difficulty rising again any time soon. Senior QB Budd Bernie was just 3 of 11 with an interception in the first half against Ramona, but senior RB Jason Harrel was effective with 12 carries for 92 yards and senior ATH Ethan Lamontagne (9 catches, 144 yards vs. Ramona) is electric with the ball in his hands. Maybe the Bears can begin to use more play action off of Harrel?
HEAD COACH: John Rice
ROSTER – QB: Budd Bernie, Sr. (6-foot, 170 pounds); RB: Jason Harrel, Sr. (5-9, 175); RB: Joseph Cerda, Sr. (5-7, 175); WR: Brody Brown, Sr. (5-10, 170); OL: Austin Wrobles, Sr. (6-1, 260); DE: Daniel Ledbetter, Sr. (6-2, 220); DT: Willie Jones, Sr. (6-2, 275); DB: Sammy Sanchez, Sr. (5-11, 150); ATH: Ethan Lamontagne, Sr. (6-1, 170); K: Collin Avery, Sr., (5-6, 155)

THE DIFFERENCE:
Bodies. Citrus Hill has some athletes on defense that Poly just won’t be able to match up against.

THE FINAL SCORE (PROJECTED):
Citrus Hill 30, Riverside Poly 14
