Player Of The Year: Beau Bruins
More than just about any other Inland Area high school player in 2022, it was clear time after time that Ramona senior running back Beau Bruins is a next-level talent.
Against Riverside North in Week 0, Bruins returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and added 150 rushing yards and two more touchdowns in a 35-25 victory on Opening Night.
Against Riverside Poly in Week 4, Bruins went or 218 rushing yards and four touchdowns and we again said, “Yeah, he’s clearly the top player on the field.”
And it was like this night after night for this year’s InlandFieldhouse.com Player of the Year, who rushed for 100-or-more yards in every game this season for Ramona, the unbeaten River Valley League champions and a CIF-Southern Section Division 6 playoff quarterfinalist.
“I’m good at anything,” said Bruins, who ran for 100-plus yards more than 20 times in his high school career. “When I get the ball, I just want to score.”
In fact, Bruins totaled more than 70 rushing TDs and 4,000 rushing yards over his final two, oftentimes spectacular seasons.
“When you have a Beau Bruins in the backfield it makes calling the plays on offense a little easier,” Ramona coach Ken Mushinskie said.
That level of consistency is rare, no matter where you find it. We’ll all be seeing Bruins at the next level very soon.
