Game of the Week: Ramona vs. Riverside Poly

THE DETAILS:
Ramona vs. Riverside Poly
CIF-Southern Section – Week 4
At Riverside (Calif.) M.L. King High School
Kickoff: 7:00 p.m. PT on Friday, Sept. 7
RAMONA (2-2 overall, 0-0 River Valley League) has not lost to Riverside Poly in the Solar Series since Ken Mushinskie arrived, and not many people expect that to change tonight. The Rams dominated en route to a 42-0 victory last year and the matchup hasn’t been competitive since 2019. This year should be a little closer.
HEAD COACH: Ken Mushinskie
ROSTER – QB: #9-Jeremiah Acosta, Sr. (na); RB: #30-Sincere Tolbert, Jr. (na); RB/LB: #21-Peter Mesa, Sr. (na); WR: #1-Jake Valenzuela, Sr. (na); ATH: #22-Royce Mendoza, Sr. (na); DE: #88-Gavin McGowan, Jr. (6-1, 180); MLB: #11-Troy Long, Soph. (5-10, 150); CB/FS: #8-Michael Perez, Sr. (5-11, 170); #3-Kellan McAllister, Jr. (na)
RIVERSIDE POLY (1-3 overall, 0-0 Sunbelt League) started out on the right foot under new coach Jarron Gilbert but the Bears have lost each of their last three games by six points, one point and 14 points, respectively. It’s Gilbert’s first edition of the Solar Series so it will be one to remember, at least for him.
HEAD COACH: Jarron Gilbert
ROSTER – QB: #4-Victor Aguilar, Jr. (na); RB: #7-Jshaun Thomas, Sr. (5-foot-8, 215); WR/DB: #11-Maje Allen, Sr. (6-foot, 150); DE/LB: #9-A.J. Renteria, Sr. (na); MLB: #3-Paul Robles III, Jr. (5-11, 210); DB/WR: #2-Michael Gaines, Soph. (5-9, 140); FS: #6-Jeremiah Luna, Sr. (5-foot-7, 150); K/P: #16-Talon Samolsky, Sr. (5-10, 155)
THE DIFFERENCE:
Ramona senior WR Jake Valenuela’s ability make plays over Poly’s inexperienced and slightly undersized defensive secondary.
THE FINAL SCORE (PROJECTED):
Ramona 35, Riverside Poly 17
