Game of the Week: Yucaipa vs. Citrus Valley

THE DETAILS:
Yucaipa vs. Citrus Valley
CIF-Southern Section – Week 10
At Redlands (Calif.) Citrus Valley High School
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. PT on Thursday, Oct. 26

YUCAIPA (7-2 overall, 1-2 Citrus Belt League) needs a win to help its at-large bid because the Thunderbirds cannot make the playoffs on results alone after last week’s 32-8 loss to Cajon. Junior RB Logan Barbour and the offensive line have had some big games but were silenced in their two biggest so far – against Beaumont and Cajon – with Barbour totaling 12 carries for just 13 yards in the two losses. Which version will show up tonight?
HEAD COACH: Justin Price
ROSTER – QB: #..-Deace Turner, Soph. (6-foot-2, 170 pounds); RB: #2-Logan Barbour, Jr. (5-11, 180); WR: #0-Tyler Noah, Sr. (6-2, 140); WR: Jace Pistilli, Sr. (5-8, 150); TE/LB: #16-Tyler Price, Sr. (6-foot, 205); OL/DL: #52-Nathaniel Clark, Sr. (6-1, 225); DL/OL: #55-Dean Kirkland, Jr. (6-1, 212); LB: #4-Tyler Montgomery, Sr. (5-10, 179); LB: #45-Will Mchargue, Jr. (6-foot, 195); DB/WR: #21-Marvin Hungerford, Sr. (6-foot, 155)

CITRUS VALLEY (6-3 overall, 4-0 Citrus Belt League) can wrap up its first unbeaten CBL run and its first league title with a victory tonight. It will be a culmination of sorts for head coach Kurt Bruich, who will have led two Redlands high school from early stages to 5-0 CBL champions. Junior QB Dawson Martinez has been a show-stopping playmaker late in the season by providing the Blackhawks another running option out of the backfield with an option to pass.
HEAD COACH: Kurt Bruich
ROSTER – QB: #1-Dawson Martinez, Jr. (6-foot-1, 170 pounds); QB/TE: #17-Kade Finazzo, Sr. (6-4, 190); RB: #43-Dominic Douglas, Sr. (5-11, 170); WR: #4-Jordyn Harris, Sr. (5-11, 160); WR/CB: #9-Michael Counce, Sr. (5-11, 160); MLB: #25-Ricardo Barrios, Sr. (5-9, 215); MLB: #41-Ryan Barrios, Sr. (5-9, 190); DB/SB: #12-Novaiah Little-Kong, Sr. (5-8, 140); K/P: #10-Kaden Hoekstra, Soph. (6-1, 150)

THE DIFFERENCE:
Dawson Martinez. We saw what he could do against Cajon’s fast and physical defense, and he’ll absolutely be keyed up to clinch a league title.

THE FINAL SCORE (PROJECTED):
Citrus Valley 35, Yucaipa 18
