VISTA DEL LAGO (1-0 overall, 0-0 Ivy League) got a standout performance from junior QB Josiah Dupree-Boyd in a 49-20 season-opening win over Silverado. ‘JDB’ was 12 of 17 passing for 370 yards and four touchdowns in the win. A playoff team each of the last six seasons, the Ravens are looking to make a deeper run this year and a win over the reigning CIF-SS Division 10 champion could serve as a big confidence boost.

HILLCREST (1-0 overall, 0-0 Sunbelt League) made itself the newest Riverside school to win a CIF-Southern Section title, then put down the old guard – Riverside Poly – in Week 0. Senior RB Reyez Ortiz put in an early audition for Inland Player of the Year with 22 carries for 191 yards and four rushing touchdowns in the win, but the Trojans are playing in one of the most competitive leagues around. A win against perhaps the area’s most dynamic QB could set the tone for another championship campaign.
