Inland Area Prep Basketball Top 10

1. Rancho Cucamonga Etiwanda (26-1) — The Eagles are riding a 23-game winning streak (by far the Inland Area’s longest) heading into the CIF-Southern Section Division 1AA playoffs.

2. Murrieta Valley (23-2) — The Nighthawks avenged their only loss of 2012, beating Vista Murrieta by 23 points on Wednesday to wrap their fourth Southwestern League title in five seasons. Seniof PF Darius Butler (6-foot-3, 205 pounds) had 23 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.

3. La Verne Lutheran (18-6) — The Trojans was 1-1 to finish its regular season/playoff preparation vs. Santa Ana Mater Dei and L.A. Price. They fought tooth-and-nail with Mater Dei, the state’s top-ranked team, but came up short. Senior C Grant Jerrett (6-foot-10, 230 pounds) was held to just seven points and seven rebounds in the loss.

4. Rialto Eisenhower (17-7) — The Eagles couldn’t coax a victory from their matchup against CIF-City Section power Los Angeles Fairfax at the Nike Extravaganza at last weekend, but will undoubtedly go unbeaten in league and earn a very high seeding in the CIF-Southern Section Division 1AA playoffs.
LAST RANKED: No. 4.
LAST GAME: def. Redlands 75-55 in a Citrus Belt League game on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
NEXT TIPOFF: vs. Fontana TONIGHT.

5. La Verne Damien (24-2) — The Spartans ran roughshod over the Sierra League, posting a perfect 10-0 record behind key contributions from senior PF Chris Reyes (6-foot-7, 215 pounds) and junior SG Jared Dizon. Reyes averaged 17 points and 11.7 rebounds per game, while Dizon shot 40 percent from 3-point range in abveraging 12.7 points per game.

6. Fontana Summit (21-6) — The SkyHawks won all 10 of their league games, albeit against poor-to-fair Sunkist League foes. Their big three, seniors Isaiah Taylor (6-foot-1, 170 pounds), Devon Alexander (6-1, 170) and Darrick Arnold (6-3, 180) all averaged in double-figures in points this season.

7. Victorville Silverado (21-2) — The Hawks have won 16 consecutive but it’ll could be a relatively quick exit from the CIF-Southern Section Division 1AA playoffs for Coach Dave Brannon; some of the state’s best teams will be lurking.

LAST GAME: def. Barstow 71-41 in a Desert Sky League game on Thursday, Feb. 9.

8. Elsinore (23-3) — The Tigers have won 21 of their last 22 games, and finishes the regular season at home tonight. Senior PG E.J. Twyman (6-foot-1, 175) has established himself as the best floor general in the Inland Area.

9. Riverside North (21-5) — The Huskies finished the regular season with four consecutive victories following an 11-point loss at Riverside Poly on Jan. 30. Senior forward Aaron Peck (6-foot-4, 225 pounds) averaged 15.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 24 games this season.

10. Riverside Poly (18-8) — The Bears jump into the Top 10 after winning their last six games, including wins over four playoff teams. Senior PF Noah Prouse (6-foot-6, 185 pounds) averaged 13.7 points and 7.9 rebounds this season.
