FOUR & MORE: Best Inland Area 1Bs

1. Brian Ruhm, Redlands — Among the most effective offensive players in the Inland Area, this 6-foot-1, 180-pound senior can play a number of positions but has settled at 1B for the Terriers (11-1 overall), the No. 2 team in the Inland Area. Ruhm is hitting .568 (21 for 37) with seven XBHs and 22 RBI this season.

2. Gabriel Clark, Riverside North — A reigning All-CIF-State Division 1 First Teamer, Clark is back for his senior season with reigning CIF-Southern Section Division 1 champions and looking for more from the unbeaten Huskies (10-0 overall), the No. 1 team in the Inland Area.

3. Connor Jones, Norco — The kid can rake, and his .444 (8 for 18) with 12 RBI in just seven games proof his just starting to clean up the yard. He should have scouts drooling at his size (6-foot-4, 195 pounds) but we’re impressed by the fact that among his eight hits, five have been for extra bases.

4. Mark Lesinski, Riverside Patriot — The 6-foot-2, 225-pound senior is batting .387 with a couple of homers for the Warriors (6-4 overall), and is Inland Area leaders with 17 RBI. While he also pitches, Lesinski’s named should be underlined on Coach Bryan Kennedy’s lineup card.

AND MORE: Dallin Padgett, Yucaipa — While his start hasn’t been anything special — .292 BA, eight RBI in 10 games — his talent and ability cannot be overlooked. Neither can the fact he’s from a very athletic family. Oh, and he hit .364 in 23 games last season.

………………….Matt Herring, Elsinore — Perhaps the most consistent player at his position, the senior is hitting .515 (17 for 33) with eight 2Bs, 12 RBI and 17 runs in just 10 games. It’s a marked turn for Herring (6-foot-2, 185 pounds), who had just 22 hits in 83 ABs (.265) last season.
