Prep Preview: River Valley League

The River Valley League is brand new, consists of six teams and will play in the CIF-Southern Section Eastern Division.

All of this can be construed as positives for every coach in the league, where most (if not all) the teams are finally playing at their weight.

Riverside La Sierra, Riverside Ramona and Moreno Valley enter as rejects of the Inland Valley League. La Sierra (10-2) defeated Ontario Chaffey in the 1st Round of the Central Division playoffs but lost to Rialto Carter in Week 12. Ramona (3-7) has a new coach but hasn’t had a winning season since the 1990s. MoVal (5-7) won five of its last seven, including a 1st Round victory over San Bernardino Cajon before losing to Ontario Colony in the Quarterfinal Round.

Riverside Norte Vista, Jurupa Valley and Jurupa Valley Patriot all arrive from the Sunkist League, which has moved on to the Central Division without them. NoVi (4-7) qualified for the playoffs but were blown out in the 1st Round by Perris Citrus Hill. Jurupa Valley (6-3-1) lost three of its last four to fall out of the playoff picture. Patriot (3-7) looks to get better in their second year under Coach Scott Pearne.

Each of these teams has a chance to make league history. Which one will it be?
