P.J. Walker, Perris Citrus Hill…
…is Player Of The Week following his scintillating performance in the Hawks’ 40-15 Week 0 victory over Riverside Poly on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012. Walker, a junior, ran for 334 yards and five touchdowns as the Hawks throttled a team a division above their own.
It’s an amazing start to the season, and thrusts the 5-foot-10, 195-pound tailback into the Inland Area’s elite group of rushers. The 334-yard game also ranks among the school’s all-time greatest rushing performances, which is mind-boggling considering the Hawks’ two most recent RBs — Demetrius Cooper (Washington) and Davien Payne (Colorado) — are just three and one year(s) out of Citrus Hill, respectively. Both had 300-yard games while playing for the Hawks.
Walker will have to continue his strong play in Week 1 vs. San Bernardino Arroyo Valley. Citrus Hill will be without starting QB Trevor Hodge, who was ejected from the game vs. Poly after allegedly throwing a punch.
