CLOSER LOOK: Vista RB Tito Feliciano

Take a closer look at Vista Murrieta senior running back Tito Feliciano and you’ll see a kid thrust into a starting role, and not thinking twice about performing so well that people forget about the guy he replaced.

Feliciano (5-6, 165) made his biggest impact of the season in a 69-21 victory over Redlands East Valley on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, running for 200 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries.

His TD runs of 17, 16 and 41 yards, respectively, set the tone as the Broncos (3-0 overall) won another non-league game by a wide margin.

I caught up with Feliciano after the game.

Can you assess your performance right now?

“I just tried to run as hard as I possibly could. The ‘O’ line blocking for me. Without them I wouldn’t get no yards at all,” Feliciano said.

What’re your thoughts on another lopsided victory over REV?

“I thought it would be a little closer because this team is more talented than the usual (nonleague) teams we play, a little faster, but you know… our team just came out and rose to the occasion,” he said.

Tell me about the long touchdown run?

“The 41-yard touchdown, ya’ know, I got de-cleated like twice before that touchdown and I was mad. And they were talkin’ so I was like ‘Alright. We’ll see what’s gonna happen.’ So as soon as I got the ball I was just going. I was just running as fast as I possibly could, and read the blocks from my receivers; Without them I wouldn’t have got the touchdown,” he said.

Any personal goals for the season?

“The goal personally for me is to help my team get to CIF, pretty much. Actually, it’s State. I want to help my team get to State. Win State, and that’s what we’re all about right now.”
