I’m covering the Corona-Riverside King varsity boys soccer game tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Riverside Unified School District Stadium.

Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

coronaLOGOTHE LOW DOWN:
The Panthers (5-9-3 overall, 3-0-1 Big VIII League) have been on a roll since star forward Leo Bahena returned to the lineup. His presence up front draws attention from defenders unlike many players in the Inland Area.

The Wolves (10-6-2 overall, 2-1-1 Big VIII League) got caught looking ahead and lost, 3-1, to Eastvale Roosevelt last Thursday. That may turn out as a game they needed to win to get a home game in the playoffs.

kingLOGO3THE STARTING XIs:
Corona
— GK: Ryan Halbersma; D: Justin Kafoury; D; Cesar Villalpando; D: Andres Gonzalez; D: Josue Barragan; MF: Noah Buchanan; MF: Juan Reyes; MF: Carlos Rodriguez; MF: Estevan Escobedo; F: Leo Bahena; F: Juan Ramirez

Riverside King — GK: Edgar Esparza; D: Zachary Miulli; D: Manuel Isiordia; D; Craig Blair; D: Davis Lucky; MF; Brian Melchor; MF: Abraham Castro; MF: Nick Perez; MF: Jorge Moreno; CAM: Jacob Norys; F: Juan Gonzalez.

THE DIFFERENCE:
Corona’s relentless pressure. Neither team is clinical with their finishing so there will be a ton of missed chances, but the Panthers have the ability to force turnovers, keep the ball in their end and produce punishing opportunities.
THE FINAL SCORE: Corona 3, King 2
