Prep Preview: Valley View at Rancho Verde

I’m covering the Moreno Valley Valley View-Moreno Valley Rancho Verde boys varsity soccer game today, Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, for The Press-Enterprise and

Kick off is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. PST.
Valley View (15-5-0 overall, 3-2 Inland Valley) started the season on a tear with six consecutive victories and are currently riding another three-win streak coming into today’s game. The last time these teams played the Eagles lost at Rancho Verde, 2-1, on Jan. 14, so this is nothing short of a must-win.

Rancho Verde has continued to win games at a tepid pace — with 15 victories and counting this season — but with losses to both Riverside Poly and Riverside North, respectively, the Mustangs (15-5-1 overall, 3-2-0 Inland Valley) have put themselves in a quite a predicament.

Valley View — GK: Aaron Servin, Soph.; D: Randy Diarte, Jr.; D: Christian Escalera, Sr.; D: Tomas Munoz, Sr.; MF: Christian Alfaro, Sr.; MF: Yonis Bernal, Jr., MF: Adrian Gomez, Sr.; MF: Hernan Rodriguez, Sr.; MF: Tony Vallejo, Jr.; F: Fidel Guevara, Sr.; F: Jonathan Morales, Jr.

Rancho Verde — GK: Jorge Valdez, Sr.; D/SW: Josue Santana, Sr.; D: Hector Villa, Sr.; D: Jack Nava, Sr.; D/MF: Daniel Duque, Jr.; D/MF: Omar Caballero, Jr.; MF: Fernando Uribe, Sr.; MF/F: Jery Acietino, Jr.; MF/F: Jorge Avila, Sr.; MF/F: Uriel Ojeda, Sr.; F: Daniel Becerra, Sr.

Rancho Verde’s spirit is unmatched in the Inland Valley League. Coach Steven Brockman has the team pumped up to play each and every game, especially at home where the Mustangs are 7-1 this season.
THE FINAL SCORE: Rancho Verde 4, Valley View 2
