I’m covering Yucaipa vs. Westlake in a CIF-Southern Section Division 2 softball game today for The Press-Enterprise, pe.hsgametime.com & @pecom_preps.

First pitch is set for 3:15 p.m. PT.

THE LOW DOWN:
The Thunderbirds (29-3 overall) have flown above the competition this postseason, outscoring opponents 17-2 thus far. Senior Brooke Bolinger (291 strikeouts) gets all the attention. The Nevada-bound hurler will be on the mound today.

The Warriors (21-9) are into the semifinals on 1-0 wins in each of their last two games, including a 12-inning effort in the second round. Senior Meehra Nelson (318 Ks) has struck out more than half the batters (615) she’s faced this season.
