BIG VIII LEAGUE PREVIEW

(Records in parenthesis)

How Corona stayed above the fray last season is anyone’s guess. We’ve seen the hash-tag #CoronaMagic amongst the league’s Twitter-sphere but that implies that like magic, what ever it is that’s fueling the Panthers will eventually run out. Or will it?

Corona (13-8-6, 9-0-1) is envied more for its recent success more than any other program around. A big part of that is coach Mike Sutherland, the master magician deft at slight of hand.

Riverside King (16-10-1, 5-4-1) had one of its best attacking teams to date, but will almost certainly face an offensive drop off despite the return of junior F Adbul Badawiya.

Eastvale Roosevelt (10-11-2, 4-5-1) is facing the stings of maturation as the program turns 10. Last season’s playoff thumping at Simi Valley Royal left a few marks.

Corona Centennial (4-7-4, 3-4-3) continues to move in the right direction in Ralph Martinez’s second season. Look for the Huskies to make a playoff push.

Corona Santiago (7-10-2, 4-6-0) has the talent on its roster to do big things so this season will be a great test for young coach Henry Sierra.

Norco (4-14-0, 2-8-0) should do better than allowing an average of three goals per game (54 GA in 18 games last season).
