FOUR & MORE: Best Inland Area Tournaments


1. Riverside Poly HS Tom Tilson Holiday Classic — Now in its 26th season, the ‘Tilson Cup’ has cache in circles outside of the Inland Area. And though it’s either revered or loathed by other Inland Area coaches (even some participating), it again has a top group of teams for this pre-Christmas event.

2. San Gorgonio HS Shootout — A long list of really, really good teams continue to win this tournament. It was Ricky Ruiz and Lake Elsinore Lakeside in 2013, Titus Nickson and Indian Springs in ’14. Redlands East Valley has entered this season and is the likely favorite.

3. Rancho Cucamonga HS Tournament — Always the best preseason gauge of the best of San Bernardino County’s metro interior was won this year by Riverside North but three of the four semifinals (Upland, Rancho Cucamonga & Rialto Carter) were SBC local.

4. Riverside Norte Vista HS Tournament — One of the earliest tournaments of the season has produced some exciting finals lately, with the hosts representing but Riverside Poly showing well on its way to its first tourney title in two year.

Perris Citrus Hill HS Hawks Winter Classic — Began yesterday and will come to a head at 8 p.m. Monday with the championship game. Pretty late in the day to play a quality game unless you’re Liga MX.
