GAME OF THE WEEK: Roosevelt at Norco

THE DETAILS:
Eastvale Roosevelt at Norco
CIF-Southern Section – Week 10
At Norco (Calif.) HS
Kickoff: 7 p.m. PT on Friday, Nov. 2

EASTVALE ROOSEVELT (6-3 overall, 2-2 Big VIII League) needs to win tonight to cause a little bit of havoc, and the Mustangs should be game for the challenge. Senior QB Jeremy Moussa has had the kind of season most envisioned for his senior campaign at Roosevelt, which could send the race for second place in the Big VIII to a tiebreaker with a victory. Moussa passed for three touchdowns in last week’s narrow 31-28 loss to Corona Santiago, but could still help Roosevelt make a claim on second place should Santiago lose in Week 10.
HEAD COACH: Tommy Leach

NORCO (5-4 overall, 3-1 Big VIII League) is a playoff team but needs a win if it has hopes of hosting a first-round playoff game. The Cougars raised some eyebrows with a 28-28 halftime score line against Centennial last as senior RB Travis Dye displayed his abilities before the defense was overwhelmed in the second half. Dye totaled 159 yards and a touchdown vs. Centennial as he surpassed 100 yards for the third consecutive game. The University of Oregon commit has 22 rushing TDs and more than 1,600 rushing yards this season. Junior QB Nick Lasher was intercepted twice in the loss, and must be better if the Cougars are to keep from back-sliding into the playoffs.

Roosevelt — QB Jeremy Moussa, Sr. (6-foot-3, 190 pounds); RB Dennis Kersee, Jr. (5-8, 170); WR Chase Williams, Sr. (6-2, 193); WR/FS Braedin Huffman-Dixon, Jr. (6-3, 180); WR/QB Major Lee, Sr. (5-11, 160); SB/FS Randy Rivera, Jr. (5-7, 160); NG/DT Khary Sanders, Sr. (5-11, 279); DE/T Andrew Koch, Sr. (6-6, 247); MLB/OLB Jacob Salcedo, Jr. (5-10, 220); K/P Owen Tapia, Jr. (6-4, 165)

Norco — QB Nick Lasher, Jr. (5-foot-11, 185 pounds); RB Travis Dye, Sr. (5-10, 170); RB/CB D.J. Ford, Jr. (5-6, 160); WR Jorge Alvarado, Sr. (6-1, 170); WR Noah Bogardus, Sr. (6-3, 175); WR/TE Matae Thomas, Sr. (6-4, 190); OL/DL Jarrett Bell, Sr. (6-5, 290); OL Brandon Kemper, Sr. (6-4, 260); MLB Blake Beecher, Jr. (5-11, 210); K Zach Survillas, Sr. (6-foot, 160)

THE DIFFERENCE:
Will we ever see a return of the Norco defense that had three consecutive shutouts earlier this year? Because Travis Dye can only do so much.

THE PREDICTION:
Roosevelt 35, Norco 32
