GAME OF THE WEEK: St. Francis at Citrus Hill

THE DETAILS:
La Canada St. Francis vs. Perris Citrus Hill
CIF-Southern Section – Week 12
Division 3 – Quarterfinal Round
At Perris (Calif.) Citrus Hill HS
Kickoff: 7 p.m. PT on Friday, Nov. 17

LA CANADA ST. FRANCIS (10-1 overall, 4-1 Angelus League) backed into the playoffs with a 12-point loss to Los Angeles Cathedral in Week 10, but bounced back for a narrow 31-27 win over Whittier La Serna in the first round of the playoffs. Beware though, this is a team that averaged more than 45 points per game and can pull away in a hurry and yet they’ve only faced a few top defenses. Junior QB Darius Parrentes has been the straw stirring the drink for the Golden Knights with 2,000-plus passing yards and 19 TDs, and RBs Elijah Washington and Kevin Armstead have combined for 27 rushing TDs and more than 1,300 yards.
HEAD COACH: James Bonds

PERRIS CITRUS HILL (10-1 overall, 5-0 Mt. Pass League) rolled into the playoffs on the back of another league title, with the team’s only loss a distance memory in Week 5 (30-0 to Rancho Cucamonga). The Hawks scored a whole bunch of points in a 56-35 win over Newbury Park in Round 1, and haven’t scored fewer than 30 since September so the offense is humming. Senior QB/RB Jonathan Jefferson blossomed into one of the Inland Area’s elite talents with the ball in his hands, running for 29 TDs and more than 1,500 yards so far this season. Senior LB/DB Shawn Dourseau leads all CIF-SS players with 13 INTs and is tops on the team with 55 solo tackles.
HEAD COACH: Eric Zomalt

THE DIFFERENCE:
We know how good Citrus Hill’s defense can be, but we’re about find out just how many times can St. Francis’ defense stop the Hawks’ punishing running attack.

THE PREDICTION:
Citrus Hill 35, St. Francis 26
