GAME OF THE WEEK: Patriot at Rubidoux

THE DETAILS:
Rubidoux vs. Patriot
CIF-Southern Section – Week 1
Nonleague
At Rubidoux (Calif.) HS
Kickoff: 7 p.m. PT on Friday, Aug. 24

RUDIDOUX (0-1 overall, 0-0 Mountain Valley) couldn’t stop San Gorgonio in Week 0 but have had seven days to tighten the screws and aren’t likely to also allow 500-plus yards to tonight’s opponent. Senior RB Tyson Giles got the ball 33 times last week and produced 95 yards and two touchdowns, and junior QB Harman Sindhu was 5 of 7 for 114 yards, two TDs and two INTs. That kind of workload on Giles might be good once a month, but don’t expect him to get that many touches as Sindhu grows more comfortable in the Falcons offense.
HEAD COACH: Patrick Thompson
ROSTER – QB: Harman Sindhu, Jr. (6-foot-1, 150 pounds); RB: Tyson Giles, Sr. (5-10, 180); FB: Marcos Rosales, Sr. (5-10, 195); WR: Jesus Garcia, Sr., 6-foot, 185; OL: Gerardo Rodriguez, Jr. (6-2, 312); DL: Marquis Brown, Sr. (5-11, 188); LB: Ramon Franco, Sr. (6-foot, 190); CB: Giovanni Peralta, Sr. (5-11, 170); K: Angel Lopez, Sr. (5-11, 210)

JURUPA VALLEY PATRIOT (0-0 overall, 0-0 River Valley) gets going in 2018 with its most intense rivalry game, making the Warriors’ opener one of their most important games of the season. We like that, but with so much turnover this season it’ll be interesting to see just how much carry-over affect last season’s playoff run will have. The program has been on an upward trajectory for some time so there’s little reason to believe this group will not also be playoff contenders, but QB Alex Grace’s time in the spotlight starts now. We suggest he puts the ball in William Bratton’s hands as often as possible.
HEAD COACH: Chris Fowler
ROSTER – QB: Alex Grace, Sr. (6-foot, 160 pounds); RB: Sid Chapoose, Sr. (5-11, 160); WR: William Bratton, Sr. (5-6, 140); TE: Dominic Pascuali, Jr. (6-3, 210); OL: Gabriel Pulido, Sr. (6-6, 375); DL: Gage Godoy, Sr. (6-foot, 210); LB: Duane Scott, Sr. (6-foot, 205); DB: Andrew Iglesias, Sr. (5-9, 210)

THE DIFFERENCE:
There isn’t a lot separating these teams on paper. From what we saw of Alex Grace last season he looks like a slick operator who throws a sharp ball.

THE FINAL SCORE (PROJECTED):
Patriot 34, Rubidoux 28
