GAME OF THE WEEK: Jurupa Hills vs. Patriot

THE DETAILS:
Jurupa Hills vs. Patriot
CIF-Southern Section – Week 5
Nonleague
At Rubidoux (Calif.) HS
Kickoff: 7 p.m. PT on Friday, Sept. 21

JURUPA HILLS (4-0 overall, 0-0 San Andreas League) are either in for a rude awakening or will be ready to take care of business. The Spartans haven’t played the toughest schedule but they’ve won by double-digits in three of the last four so it’s been a good start to 2018 for this team. A 47-0 victory over Jurupa Valley last week not included, Jurupa Hills is still averaging nearly 37 points per game. Senior QB Zane Scarbrough has taken the role of playmaker on this team and hasn’t thrown an interception since Week 0. He was 9 for 10 with four touchdowns in the rout of Jurupa Valley, and has a passer rating of 112 through four games.
HEAD COACH: Citos Martinez
ROSTER – QB: Zane Scarbrough, Sr. (6-foot-1, 215 pounds); RB: On’Drae Harvey, Sr. (5-8, 185); WR: Jonathon Torres, Sr. (5-9, 145); OL: Joel Cedillo, Sr. (6-3, 270); DL: Jose De la Torre, Sr. (5-10, 200); MLB: Adrian Cuevas, Sr. (5-11, 230); Manuel Rodriguez, Sr. (5-10, 215); CB: Rayshawn Lathon, Jr. (5-8, 155); K: Jose Diaz, Sr. (5-7, 165)

PATRIOT (3-1 overall, 0-0 River Valley League) has won back-to-back games since dropping its Week 1 game against Chaffey, and look to have again found the form that made it a league champion and a playoff contender last season. Senior QB Alex Grace has been given the reins, and junior Isaac Flores ran for 170-plus yards and a touchdown in the win last week over Chino. But it’s the Warriors defense that must find its feet if this team is going to fly. The departure of defense coordinator Mike Stauffer has taken a toll on that side of the ball, despite a shutout win over rival Rubidoux in Week 1 and allowing just six points last week.
HEAD COACH: Chris Fowler
ROSTER – QB: Alex Grace, Sr. (6-foot, 160 pounds); RB: Sid Chapoose, Sr. (5-11, 160); WR: William Bratton, Sr. (5-6, 140); TE: Dominic Pascuali, Jr. (6-3, 210); OL: Gabriel Pulido, Sr. (6-6, 375); DL: Gage Godoy, Sr. (6-foot, 210); LB: Duane Scott, Sr. (6-foot, 205); DB: Andrew Iglesias, Sr. (5-9, 210)

THE DIFFERENCE:
Zane Scarbrough may take the game into his hands. If he doesn’t, Patriot will likely win this one.

THE FINAL SCORE (PROJECTED):
Jurupa Hills 18, Patriot 17
