GAME OF THE WEEK: Norte Vista at MoVal

THE DETAILS:
Norte Vista vs. Moreno Valley
CIF-Southern Section – Week 2
Nonleague
At Moreno Valley (Calif.) High School
Kickoff: 7 p.m. PT on Friday, Sept. 6

NORTE VISTA (2-0 overall, 0-0 Inland Valley League) has started quickly with wins over Menifee Paloma Valley (28-14) and Hesperia Sultana (51-0) but is yet to go up against a team as physical or talented as the one its plays in Week 2. New QB Daniel Gonzales is running the offense efficiently so far, and sophomore RB Eddie Allain is getting just enough attention to take the pressure off the other ball carriers in the Braves’ bruising double-wing attack. Senior TE Emmanuel Rubio is a big target who can get open to help spread the field. Senior DB Josef Luckey is a playmaker with the ball in his hands.
HEAD COACH: Ken Batdorf
ROSTER – QB: Daniel Gonzales, Sr. (5-foot-10, 185 pounds); RB: Eddie Allain, Soph. (5-10, 175); RB: Jessie Carvajal, Soph. MORENO VALLEY (0-0 overall, 0-0 Big VIII League) clobbered cross-town rival Canyon Springs, 62-12, in the season opener but faces a much more powerful and disciplined opponent this week. Senior RB Jaylin Henderson and sophomore RB Elijah Kelsey both topped 100 yards rushing in the win. Henderson had 107 yards and two TDs on just four carries, and Kelsey totaled 107 yards and three TDs on just six carries as the Vikings totaled 291 rushing yards. Kelsey, quickly making a name for himself, also returned an interception 55 yards for his first varsity defensive touchdown.
HEAD COACH: Ted Wadkins
