GAME OF THE WEEK: Kaiser vs. Summit

THE DETAILS:
Fontana Kaiser vs. Fontana Summit
CIF-Southern Section – Week 8
Sunkist League
At Fontana (Calif.) Miller High School
Kickoff: 7 p.m. PT on Friday, Oct. 18

FONTANA KAISER (7-0 overall, 2-0 Sunkist League) is doing fine defending its CIF-Southern Section Division 8 title from last season, with tonight’s matchup the likely final hurdle on the way to another unbeaten regular season. The Cats are led by junior dual-threat QB Trevian Trebble, who is completing 55 percent of his passes and rushing for more than nine yards per carry and has totaled 1,495 yards, or more than 54 percent of the team’s offense. Senior RB/LB Gabriel Ortiz has been solid in short-yardage situations but has not run for more than 100 yards in a game since Week 0.
HEAD COACH: William Cardosi
ROSTER – QB: Trevian Tribble, Jr. (5-foot-11, 160 pounds); RB/OLB: Gabriel Ortiz, Sr. (5-9, 170); RB/MLB: Dustin Chaidez, Jr. (5-10, 180); WR/FS: Josiah Finnell, Jr. (5-11, 155); WR/DB: Nate Bedolla, Jr. (5-8, 155); DL: Zackary Bradley, Jr. (6-foot, 175); DT: Pablo Almaeda, Sr. (5-11, 210); DE: Avery Taylor, Sr. (6-foot, 220); DB/K: Joseph Glenn, Jr. (5-11, 170)

FONTANA SUMMIT (6-1 overall, 2-0 Sunkist League) has not allowed a point since September following back-to-back shutouts over Bloomington and Colton, respectively. The Skyhawks have been able to produce plenty of offense all season with the QB tandem of senior Christian McDonald and freshman Marquis Roby, and senior RB Darrin Thomas, but now the defense is finally receiving the recognition that it deserves. Senior CB/OLB Eric McCraney III and senior CB Nate Ellison have been a strong outside tandem, holding all but one opponent to 14 points or fewer so far this season.
HEAD COACH: Nick Matheny
ROSTER – QB: Christian McDonald, Sr. (6-foot-1, 185 pounds); QB: Marquis Roby, Fr. (6-1, 175); RB: Darrin Thomas, Sr. (5-11, 172); RB: Adrion Boyd, Jr. (5-6, 145); SB: Jesse Davis, Sr. (5-7, 143); WR: Joshua Hornsby, Sr. (6-2, 206); TE: Michael Leyva, Sr. (6-foot, 190); OL: Adrian Loza, Sr. (6-3, 340); CB/OLB: Eric McCraney III, Sr. (6-foot, 184); CB: Nate Ellison, Sr. (6-2, 210); K: Alberto Gutierrez, Jr. (6-foot, 180)

THE DIFFERENCE:
The play-making ability of Kaiser QB Tre Tribble. Summit won’t be able to stop him, but they can hope to contain him.

THE FINAL SCORE (PROJECTED):
Kaiser 20, Summit 16
