GAME OF THE WEEK: Hillcrest vs. Norte Vista

THE DETAILS:
Hillcrest vs. Norte Vista
CIF-Southern Section – Week 3
At Riverside (Calif.) Norte Vista High School
Kickoff: 7 p.m. PT on Friday, April 2
RIVERSIDE HILLCREST (2-0 overall, 2-0 River Valley League) is getting a lot of credit, coming in, for its strong start. But victories over La Sierra and Arlington only impress so far when you’re going up against one of the best rushing attacks in CIF-Southern Section. If the Trojans think they can take anything they’ve learned from Weeks 1 and 2 and apply it to tonight, they’d better think it over again.
HEAD COACH: Travis Carter
ROSTER – QB: Camren Payne, Jr. (6-foot-1, 180 pounds); RB/WR/DS: Manny Robert, Sr. (5-10, 180); RB: Jordan Minnieweather, Sr. (5-10, 180); WR/DB: Xavier Banks, Sr., (5-7, 145); TE/T/LS: Mason Hutton, Sr. (6-6, 220); OL/DL: Malu Tata, Jr. (6-1, 325); LB: Nolan Ojeda, Sr. (6-2, 180); K: Daniel DeAnda, Jr. (6-1, 165)
RIVERSIDE NORTE VISTA (2-0 overall, 2-0 River Valley League) has a lot to play for and a lot to lose, so it’ll be on the offensive and defensive lines to do the dirty work once again. The beef in the middle – seniors Andrew Garcia and Adan Rodriguez – combine for more than 600 pounds and push the line on every down. What sets this team apart is how it pursues to the ball on defense.
HEAD COACH: Ken Batdorf
ROSTER – QB: Vincent Garcia, So. (5-foot-10, 163 pounds); RB: Eddie Allain, Jr. (5-10, 175); RB: Jessie Carvajal, Jr. (5-8, 185); TE: Brian Rodriguez, Sr., (6-1, 180); C/DT: Andrew Garcia, Sr. (6-foot, 320); OL/DL: Adan Rodriguez, Sr. (6-3, 290); DT: Carlos Maravilla, Sr. (6-1, 290); MLB: Noah Wilson, Sr. (5-11, 210); CB/WR: Isaac Gaines, Jr. (5-9, 170)
THE DIFFERENCE:
Camren Payne can turn the game on its head but Norte Vista is relentless on both sides of the ball.
THE FINAL SCORE (PROJECTED):
Norte Vista 27, Hillcrest 24
