GAME OF THE WEEK: Patriot vs. Arlington

THE DETAILS:
Patriot vs. Arlington
CIF-Southern Section – Week 4
At Riverside (Calif.) Ramona High School
Kickoff: 7 p.m. PT on Friday, April 9
JURUPA VALLEY PATRIOT (1-2 overall, 1-2 River Valley League) hasn’t been close against the good teams in the RVL, so this is very much a battle for fourth place. The Warriors need to bounce back from losing by 32 points to Ramona last week, and sophomore Brandon Lopez will be given every opportunity to succeed this week. So far, he’s learning fast as senior QB Andrew Lujan’s No. 1 option.
HEAD COACH: Chris Fowler
ROSTER – QB: Andrew Lujan, Sr. (6-foot-1, 180 pounds); RB: Brandon Lopez, Fr. (6-1, 180); RB: James Escobar, Jr. (5-10, 180); RB/DB: Duane Bowen, Sr., (6-1, 190); OL: Jeremiah Burchette, Sr. (6-3, 290); DE: Ezekiel Vasquez, Jr. (6-1, 210); LB: Camilo Martinez, Sr. (5-9, 170); K: Kai Kendall, Sr. (6-1, 165)
RIVERSIDE ARLINGTON (1-2 overall, 1-2 River Valley League) is coming off its first victory under Jeff Roney and should be riding a decent wave of momentum. Junior QB Mitchell Wood is progressing despite the limited number of varsity reps, and could be a vital piece for the Lions in a playoff push later this year. Freshman RB Christian Bozeman is going to be a load for opponents moving forward.
HEAD COACH: Jeff Roney
ROSTER – QB: Mitchell Wood, Jr. (5-foot-10, 163 pounds); RB: Christian Bozeman, Fr. (5-10, 175); RB/WR: Artie Carranza, Jr. (5-8, 185); WR/DB: Dahmarien Allen, Sr., (6-1, 180); TE/DB: Reed Van Lierop, Sr., (6-foot-4, 180); OL/DL: Taylor Damacio, Sr. (5-10, 265); DL: Xavier Rideout, Sr. (6-1, 290); MLB: Mario Palagi, Fr. (5-11, 210); CB/WR: Isaac Gomez, Sr. (5-9, 170)
THE DIFFERENCE:
Both teams are struggling to do things correctly (never mind consistency) against quality competition, but Lions freshman Christian Bozeman is going to be a game breaker. Could be tonight.
THE FINAL SCORE (PROJECTED):
Arlington 23, Patriot 18
