Ky’el Tyler, Kaiser…

Fontana Kaiser sophomore Ky’el Tyler has been selected InlandFieldhouse.com’s Player of the Week after a record-producing Week 11-B performance as the Cats defeated South Torrance, 49-28, in a CIF-Southern Section Division 10 first round playoff game on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021.

Tyler gained a school record 313 rushing yards on 21 carries and scored four touchdowns for the Cats (5-5 overall), who started the season slowly with losses in four of their first five games but totaled a school-record 648 rushing yards in the first-round win.

The 5-foot-10, 165-pound do-everything standout now leads the team with 969 rushing yards on the season, but after only his first playoff game he’s already doing things that even recent alums like Tyler Allgeier (BYU) and Christian Hunter (Colorado State) failed to achieve? Say nothing of former NFL pros Lonyae Miller or Chris and David Carter? What’s next?

ALSO CONSIDERED:
RB/DB Tanner Chaffee (Serrano) – 125 total yards, INT & 3 tackles
RB Zach Gross (Rim of the World) – 33-249, 4 TDs
RB Venasio Mikaele (JW North) – 16-136, 4 TDs
