1. Riverside North (6-0) — The Huskies added to the early-season resume with a victory over Thousand Oaks at the Corona Centennial HS Tournament at UC Riverside last Wednesday. Senior P Robert Ortega (6-1, 180 pounds) was the winner as the Huskies extended their unbeaten streak to 12 games.

2. Redlands (6-1) — The Terriers have outscored their last two opponents (Cathedral City ant Tucson Desert Christian) 26-1 since losing to MoVal Canyon Springs at RBI on March 3. Senior C Jacob Nottingham (6-foot-3, 200 pounds) had two hits — including a bases-loaded triple — in an 18-1 win vs. Desert Christian.

3. Redlands East Valley (5-2) — The Wildcats traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona for the prestigious Cleats Sports Classic Invitational and layed an egg. Peculiar considering Coach James Cordes isn’t a chicken farmer, to our recollection.

4. Yucaipa (3-3) — The Thunderbirds have won back-to-back games since ending what-turned-out-to-be a three-game losing streak. Coach Jeff Stout has taken his team to Southwestern Arizona and the Lancer Classic in a Tucson suburb, where they won tonight on a seventh-inning RBI single by senior OF Ben White (6-foot-3, 195 pounds) that scored senior C Jacob Miller (6-foot-1, 160 pounds), who tripled.

6. Vista Murrieta (3-4) — The Broncos went 2-3 at the Anaheim Loara HS Tournament, scoring double-digits in both their wins while scoring two runs or fewer in their losses. Junior OF Tyler Wilson (5-foot-11, 145 pounds) went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI vs. Anaheim on Saturday.

9. Woodcrest Christian (4-1) — The Royals’ bats were silences in the semifinals of the Chino HS Tournament last Friday, getting just two hits against the host Cowboys. Senior SS Parker Strebel (5-foot-9, 165 pounds) had a hit and an RBI in the loss.

Junior P Jacob Battaglia (6-foot-3, 200 pounds) pitched a no-hitter, striking out nine in a dominant vicyory over West Valley last Saturday. Perhaps no players is roaring loader than senior SS Paul Martinez. The 6-foot, 160-pounder has hits in 13 of his first 18 ABs (.867 BA) with four XBH and eight RBI thus far.
